Breakfast Topic: What class will you never play?

We all have one. Some of us might have more -- two or even three, she says, whistling nonchalantly. You all know what I mean: the class you think you might have a go at yet never get out of the starting zone, or the class you look at time and time again and just can't quite bring yourself to try.
These classes often look good on paper. I like tanking on my paladin. I know it's not exactly challenging, but I enjoy it -- so other tank classes should sound fun too, right? Wrong. I cannot bring myself to roll a warrior. I don't know why, exactly; I don't have a good reason for it. It's clearly a deeply personal thing, but I just can't find any appeal in that class.
I have two healers already, a priest and a shaman, so adding a druid should be good. After all, they can tank, too! But druid is my #1 rolled and deleted class. If I had stats for that, I reckon I've rolled and deleted maybe five druids. Maybe six. Most of them don't make it out of the starting zone. For some reason, I just find them uninspiring. The spells seem dull, not exciting or engaging. I'm sure they're great if you give them a chance, but the sulky teenager in me doesn't want to!
Of course, these tastes are incredibly subjective and personal, and I am under no illusions that there is a right answer or even a majority opinion! But I want to know what classes are the ones you will never play? What are the classes you roll and delete in their infancy? And, dear reader, why?

Hunters...just...eugh. Stealing my Rogue's gear since '05 I guess.

Extending on that, but for a different reason: I don't like pet classes. I like to feel heroic, and I like to feel epic. It doesn't feel very epic to me when I can auto-attack something as, say, a hunter, and have such a large portion of my damage be generated by just that pet's automatically-used abilities.
Perhaps I'd feel different if there wasn't any auto-casting for pets. Or maybe not, but it doesn't really feel like I'm controlling them, and as such that they're a direct result of my or my character's actions or commands. As a result I feel detached from them. It just feels like they'll go off and hit whatever they want and that's that unless you tell them to sit in time-out for things like Spine.
The pet problem is made worse for me where there are fights that gimp pets and minions terribly. Ever try to jump platforms in Throne of the Four Winds or Madness? Pets and minions have a tendency to fall down the cliffs, into the water, and run along the bottom and back up the next hill before getting to you. Sometimes they'll de-spawn altogether, and then you're forced to use a cool-down to bring them out again immediately, which is made more frustrating because now you can't use a defensive ability to sacrifice the minion because you'll lose the necessary dps for that fight.
Of course there are other minor nuances, like powering up your pet, and then not a second later having your pet die to some boss ability it isn't supposed to die to (and then, again, not being able to sacrifice it to help your healers out).
Pets and minions should be fun and enjoyable, but as they're currently implemented I really can't seem to see them as anything more than an extra annoying set of auto-attacks.

As a rogue for life, I won't play a hunter or a mage ... ever.
Hunters are banned because of the gear issue and mages because of predator/prey relationship in PVP.
In fact, I doubt I'll ever play a RDPS class ... get in the scrum you pansies.

I completely agree with the "don't play PET classes ... hunter, warlock, Frost mage, unholy DK). I have TEN paladins, SIX over level 40 (3 @ 85, 2 on the same server) and two disc priests (goblin and nelf). Iam also partial to DK tanks (Frost in Wrath, switched to Blood immediately in Cata ... and yes, I agree Blood DKs are a bit OP these days).
I have rolled so many druids, and never gotten past level 25 ... and yet I love it as a healer when a bear tank shows up because I find them the easiest to heal (followed by paladins, warriors, and DKs last ...).
Warlocks exist to give mages, rogues and DKs something to kill. Do they serve any other purpose?
Shammies are awesome, but the playstyle is too hard to master for someone who plays casual ...

The best way to defeat your enemy is to find out how they work :)

@Razion: unless you play BM, only about 10% of your damage (IIRC) is done by your pet. Your point about fight mechanics not favoring pet usage is fair though.

I try not to say "never" too often, but I have played characters of all classes and the only ones I have never levelled to max level are Paladin and Rogue. For different reasons, they just don't suit me.
This is particularly funny when you consider that I adore my kitty druid. Combo points, stealth, energy - one should think I'd like a rogue, right? I don't though. I need my feral charge, Tiger's Fury and Berserk to be able to use attacks faster, and a million other little things that distinguish kitties. Colour me weird :-)

You know, I've never considered a Pally until reading your comment. Mostly because when I first started playing WoW my friend who I played very often with was a Pally so I found no need to create one. However, now that I am thinking about it I'm not quite sure I'd ever finish leveling it either. They seem awesome but they only seem awesome when someone else is a pally and not myself. lol.
Roycroft Mar 7th 2012 10:26AM
Revnah, I think I'm your exact opposite!
My main is a rogue, and so I thought I'd enjoy playing a kitty druid: combo points, stealth, what's not to like? But actually playing the druid went more like this:
Eh, this mob's going to kill me. Best vanish and reassess the situation. (Reaches for nonexistent Vanish key)
I'll just sap this guy and kill his buddy first. (Reaches for nonexistent Sap key)
Must stun this annoying caster! (Reaches for nonexistent Kidney Shot key)
Let's steal this mob blind before killing it! (Reaches for nonexistent Pickpocket key)
Maybe I've just played a rogue too long to be happy with a kitty druid. I have gotten the druid to 83, though!

37 Paladins deleted before level 20 and counting.
Pyromelter Mar 7th 2012 8:09AM
Priest. I don't like healing, and I'm not a fan of dot-type dps gameplay. Also I generally stay away from cleric-archetypes in rpgs. Paladin was really the last class I rolled, mostly because playing a tauren ret pally seemed like fun, and it was okay.
I've rolled with the other 8 classes and had fun with all of them, some more than others of course.
But yeah, I'm a fireballing pyromaniac, there just isn't room for a white mage/cleric in my character selection space.

DPS Druids

I'm with you on the warrior thing. Just can't bring myself to do it and I have no idea why.
Chiara Mar 7th 2012 8:12AM
I used to never want to level a Paladin (don´t really know why though, kinda because of the lore perspective, i didn´t ever feel like that would be me) but i leveled a Tauren Paladin to like level 20 or something (but more of its newishness, i also tried a Bloodelf Warrior, Nightelf Mage etc.) but now she´s sitting in her character slot a little dusty.
But since i´m more of a lore geek i can really play any class and adjust to it because i play it more from the lore perspective.
Sterb Mar 7th 2012 8:11AM
Warrior and warlock, but warrior leads the pack. There's something about how warriors take damage early on that make the experience unpleasant (for me).
Fletcher Mar 7th 2012 8:12AM
I have to agree with this sentiment. My first toon ever was a druid, and I got her to level 18 (in the days when cat form was at level 20) ... where she languished for a while, abandoned, until I finally deleted her to make space for other toons. I've tried making a druid again several times since then, but I never can. I always get fed up and delete them. Every other class I can enjoy, but not druids.
Also I hate those rancid flapping herbninjas scooting about stealing my herbs, and wish I could forcibly un-shift them in midair.
nycblackout89 Mar 7th 2012 8:14AM
I hate dks with a passion. I can't get em past lvl 60. I don't know why.
cygnus Mar 7th 2012 8:25AM
Hellfire Peninsula maybe?
RaidShaman Mar 7th 2012 7:12PM
Hellfire Penninsula indeed! Why can't they just sell 1000JP single-use BoA items that grant one level of experience to a character between 60 and 70? (Or even 80, but they're probably not ready to go there yet.)
bilbomoody Mar 7th 2012 8:15AM
Ugh, tried to melee again and again... I have a paladin at level 40... and he's a healer, that's the furthest any of them have made it.
I'm just a ranged kinda guy ; )
