WoW Moviewatch: ZA
Who's tired of running ZA to get the darn bear mount already? I'll admit, I've given up. Winning the roll is more difficult than accomplishing the timed run. You can imagine my cathartic relief when Sharm busted out this parody addressing that exact issue.
ZA is a take-off of Dolly Parton's Jolene. (Look, White Stripes fan, I dig it. Their cover was pretty good, but they were barely born when Parton was crooning this song out.) While Jolene itself has always given me odd feminist cognitive dissonance, ZA abandons that moral ambiguity in favor of simply lambasting the infuriating RNG behind the bear mount.
I was very happy to see Sharm tackle this song because I think it shows off the strength of her vocals very well. Sharm's a fascinating person and a lot of fun to follow, but it'd been a little while since we've really sen the power of her guns. ZA puts that talent on display and reminds us exactly why she's so successful.

Loved it, but I've only felt the pain of rolling a #$%ing 4 on the bear once :)

That freeze frame on the video is hysterical.

Impressive, and very well done!

Just do what I did. Grab a couple competent players you know, preferably guildies, and offer them each 1,000g to run the dungeon with you and not roll on the mount.
I seriously don't understand why anyone would try to get the mount In a random group. A group that is probably filled with fresh 85's in crafted PvP gear and quest greens.
On another note, the way she kept saying Zed-A confused the crap out of me for the first 30 seconds of the video. I'm not going to say that it's wrong, but it's been years since I heard someone say Z like that.

I very much agree on the crazy optimism that comes with trying to get a bear in a PuG. And she's certainly doomed to disappointment if she's trying to get the bear shown in the video, since that's the BC-era mount.
I also find the pronunciation of "z" in American English an oddity; how the heck did that end up weird? I get the whole colour/color thing; Noah Webster intentionally made an effort to make an 'American' spelling because English English was clearly stupid and wrong. But the letter's name? That I don't get. Although I imagine Wikipedia has at least one explanation.

That's the "proper" way to pronounce "Z" - ie. the Canadian and British way. ;) (Just kidding, in case my ;) didn't come through strong enough)
Anyone who watched SG: Atlantis will know it's why Rodney called it a "Zed-Pee-Emm" and not a "Zee-Pee-Emm" - Rodney was Canadian to the core. :)

@boobah
I blame the alphabet song. Do the last part with "zed" instead of "zee" and you'll know why.
@revynn
Thank you for pointing out the zed thing in the first place. I was wondering why she kept singing about Seradane.

@Caylynn
Funny, SG:atlantis is exactly the reason I know the Z/zed pronunciation difference lol

SamLowry Mar 8th 2012 5:06PM
Wuuuhhh...she's swearing...the BAD one, too...uhhhh...I think I've been tickled in a...ohhh, myyy...special place, too....

Meh, just waiting til next x-pac and then I'll come back and solo the place. That is of course if I'm not too busy with Diablo III and GW2.

Other than hearing Zed-A instead of Zee-A, I loved it. She has such a haunting quality to her voice at times. I'd love to hear her sing the dovahkiin song from Skyrim, as I am sure she would nail it.

Brava!

Rodney McKay - "We need the Zed PM to power the gate"
Jack O'Nell - "Huh?"
Daniel Jackson - "ZPM. He's Canadian"
O'Neill - "I'm sorry"
Sorry, but when I heard "Zed A", this is all I could think about
ScrubRogue Mar 8th 2012 4:57PM
The actor who plays Jack O'Neil is Canadian...reading american lines lol
Minos Mar 24th 2012 9:42PM
Actually, Richard Dean Anderson is Minnesotan. It's an understandable mistake.

I love 'Jolene' so yeah, I liked this video, my fave parts are the Troll playing the guitar, it was just so haunting (guess I need to pay more attention to the Tauren Chieftens :)
