Around Azeroth: Then again, maybe I won't
Submitter Ironfeather of Ironic on Ghostlands (EU-A) writes, "While taking part in the Ironman Challenge, Ironfeather took a rest in what she thought was an inn. But the only person drinking was also the person with a lot of throwing weapons (or just weapons that could be thrown). Seeing the main rule of Ironman is not dying at all, this was perhaps not the safest place to sit down."

Do Ironman challengers roll their characters on current realms, or solo on a new realm so there's no doubt of assistance from alts and resources?

There isn't a rule that says you can't use your own realm. The whole contest is basically on the honor system. Actually, it's not even a contest - more of a challenge: "See if you can do this..." so no one's really keeping score. Although there are certain stats you can check - like number of deaths - there is no way to know if someone really followed all the so-called rules.
There are special guilds set-up so Ironman players can socialize, but you don't have to join one (they disband and reform as soon as the guild dings a level, so they stay within the rules). It's really not that formal of an event. As a matter of fact, some of the "rules" are actually suggestions, such as picking your character at random. Some people choose their race and class, and they are still considered playing by the rules by most, as far as I know.
It's really just a friendly challenge.

After playing for 7 years, it looks like a fun change of pace. I'll be giving it a shot!
thanks for feedback.

Is there a stated expiration date on the Scroll of Resurrection offer? I haven't seen one, but when I tried to go the SOR FAQ on the official web-site today, it was under maintenance.

Okay, this was supposed to go in the Queue. My apologies.
