I play several dedicated healing toons. I don't think it's because I am woman though. I think it has more to do with my personality and career. I am a loving, caring, nurturing person and I am a nurse. It's just in my nature to want to heal things and make them better. I also think a lot of women choose healing roles for the same reason. Especially mothers. We can try to deny it but deep down most women have that urge to take care of (heal) things. It doesn't mean that our scope is limited, believe me as much as I love healing I also love crisping things with my mage.
