Blizz,
I for one agree that most of the sense of community is gone in favor of an "instant gratification" world that you have bred in-game yourselves. You have made almost every aspect of the game cater to the this philosophy.
There are always alternatives, but you have to put on your work pants to make it happen.
Options. Plain and simple. Give players options. For example:
Allow players two ways to que for Raids/Dungeons. One with your server, one with ALL servers. It may take longer in the first option, but some people would like to play with people on their server. Most of us don't want to sit in a major city spamming trade, and this would allow players to continue doing other things while waiting for a local group to form. I for one would love this option. (I know it would take longer to form)
