New Mists of Pandaria screenshot appears
A new Mists of Pandaria screenshot has randomly appeared in the Cataclysm screenshot gallery on the Blizzard site today. (Update: It's the start of the MoP Screenshot of the Day program.)
How do we know it's an MoP screenshot? Because there are four pandaren in it.
We also see some large, raid-type portal doors, which are clearly Asian-themed. The whole screenshot has a jungle feel to it and looks like it might come out of The Jade Forest, which is a new 85-to-86 zone. The doors are also identical to the ones in the Temple of the Jade Serpent dungeon. The Temple is the very first instance players will encounter in MoP.
Check out the larger version for even more win.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion, raising the level cap to 90, introducing a brand new talent system, and bringing forth the long-lost pandaren race to both Horde and Alliance. Check out the trailer and follow us for all the latest MoP news!

If Blizz thinks tossing a meaningless screenshot of some pandas walking through an ornate dragon gate is going to get me excited about spending time in Pandaria, well, they're right!

It appears that the team that did the beautiful and colorful art for BC is back to work on this one. It will be nice to have an expansion that is not largely monochromatic, or that relies on old art assets (trees, rocks, etc.).

This. And people were worried that Pandaren and MOP zones couldn't look unique... just look at that! No way that'll be mistaken for any zone before it.

I'm always amazed at the awesome things Blizzard's artists can do within the limitations of their aging engine without boosting the system requirements sky-high. There's a lot to be said about art direction and style making up for lacking technical capabilities.

As did i my friend. As did I.

I'm super excited. I really want a locale that can capture something akin to the mysterious lakes of Zangarmarsh or the sweeping majesty of Nagrand again. Not to say that Northrend and some Cata areas don't have their charms, but I'm really liking what I've seen of the new areas.

Beautiful. I look forward to walking through that gate!

welp, more npcs with only one shoulder paldron, can we finally have this as a choice for players yet?

I'm more convinced that picture is actually the Pandaren starting zone, as I see walled off area and two walking NPCs that look like guards patrolling to the door. This looks like the tiny area for the first couple of levels, before moving onto the rest of the starting zone.
