The Queue: WTB more warlocks

I was reading this thread over on the official forums, and while I don't agree with everything said in it, I can agree with the conclusion: There need to be more warlocks.
Maybe WoW Insider should have a warlock awareness week or something. We'll promote safe healthstone sharing or proper DoT'ing or something like that.
Maymer asked:
What do YOU all hope will be announced/shown/demonstrated through the art of interpretive dance at tomorrow's press release?
Do you want to see the new faction mounts, dance, zone details?
Maybe more on how the monk class will work, or greater detail on the talent calculator?
I personally am hoping they reveal updated character models for all the Pre-Cata races myself. That, along with a date for beta invites (the sooner the better), and showing us some of the new mounts (come on flying nimbus cloud!)
My bets are as follows:
- New character models. I just don't see how Blizzard cannot do this, especially given the moves of the monk class.
- Beta release. It'll probably just happen.
- Profession information.
- Diablo 3 release date tossed in for good measure.
- Lots of the first tier of raiding information.
- Details on changes to the Raid Finder and Dungeon Finder. I have my fingers crossed for old-raid Raid Finders.
I polished my banhammer.
It's shiny and ready for justice.
Jeff asked:
Do you think there will ever be a change to rested xp gains and maximums? I can burn through max rested XP at level 65 in about 1.5 dungeons with heirlooms. I wouldn't care if they left it alone in the 1-60 content but by the time I get to outland and northrend I just want to get to 80.
It's certainly possible, but I don't think that it's something the majority of players would feel a benefit from. Those of us who are able to burn through rested XP do so because we play hard-core, compared to other players who don't spend six hours grinding out dungeons in a weekend, etc. ...
Rested XP is also just a nice little boost to get you moving again after being away for a long time and isn't really intended to be a leveling mechanic, even though it's used that way by many players (especially those reading this post).
It's also harder to burn through rested XP at the higher levels, and it's not really super compelling after about 83 or so. In Cataclysm's last five levels, the way to level is through questing, and rested XP doesn't change the amount of quest XP.
Klausse asked:
Any word on minimum/preferred system requirements for Mists, or will they be determined by what Blizzard sees as people begin beta testing? Do you think we'll hear more about this in the Press Event?
I might be in need of an upgrade before it launches, so the more advance notice, the better!
I doubt we'll hear the minimum specs until we're really close to launch. That being said ... this is WoW we're talking about. If your computer can run Cataclysm, it's going to be able to run MoP. Blizzard isn't just going to dump a large portion of its playerbase to upgrade the graphics. What we will probably see are more ultra-like settings and things like that, so newer machines can take advantage of newer technology. But as for exactly what those things will be, we'll have to wait and see.

@SR
Of course there is. And if there isn't, simply realizing that something is an exception results in the elimination of it's exceptional status.
It's the basis of two of the rules of the Internet, Rules 34 and 35.
Or, as I like to think of them, The Vint Cerf Certainty Principles.

Meatspin is just funny. If you're really offended by that then you've barely scratched the surface of horrible internet stuff...

The NDA is designed to prevent 3rd party sites from leaking information early. I'm still holding out hope that Blizzard will release all kinds of information this week - allowing the mmo-champ's of the world to do cleanup next week.
Noyou Mar 13th 2012 11:38AM
We shall see in a few hours ;)
Cephas Mar 13th 2012 11:50AM
Sorry, but that just doen't make any sense. If Blizzard releases information early and publicly then sites who didn't sign the NDA would be able to report on it, and the only sites not reporting on it would be the ones held to the NDA. The whole point of signing the NDA is that it's supposed to benefit the press sites by ensuring that nobody jumps the gun and steals their traffic - Blizzard realeasing information early would entirely defeat that purpose.
zackwbrandon Mar 13th 2012 12:02PM
I'm assuming (hoping) that there will be snippets of information that Blizzard will share with the asterisk: not covered by the NDA. This will allow sites to show off a screenshot here, or a new Monk animation there without blowing the cover off of the big three: Female Pandaren model, Beta start date, and new character models (pre-BC). It would build anticipation while sating the thirst of the masses: e.g. be good for business.
Cephas Mar 13th 2012 1:36PM
A small drip-feed of information to whet our appetites? Sure, but don't expect "all kinds of information".
JattTheRogue Mar 13th 2012 1:55PM
@Cephas: "If Blizzard releases information early and publicly then sites who didn't sign the NDA would be able to report on it, and the only sites not reporting on it would be the ones held to the NDA."
That's wrong. If Blizzard releases the information publicly, then anyone can report on it. It's no longer covered by the NDA, so everyone, NDA-signers and those who did not sign alike, would be able to cover it. The NDA is there so that Blizzard stays in control of the flow of information. I wouldn't be surprised to see some news come from Blizzard this week, with the full load being released after the NDA drops and all the third party sites get to write about the details they were given at the press event.
Cephas Mar 13th 2012 2:13PM
@JattTheRogue
That's fair, I did a poor job explaining my point, and ended up saying something untrue. What I meant to say was why would they even bother doing an NDA if they're just going to reveal the NDA'd stuff publicly anyway? Blizzard has said publicly that they won't be revealing the female Pandaren until the 19th, so I think that's a pretty good indicator that Blizzard isn't planning on revealing much until that date.
zackwbrandon Mar 13th 2012 2:58PM
So... with the screenshot of the day for MoP now active, I guess that steady (but small) flow of (albeit snippets) of information has in fact begun! So congrats Sirn, at least in so far as giving us something rather than NOTHING, your hopes have been fulfilled. Just dont hold your breath for an in depth blog post on the status of Pet Battles until Monday.
