Breakfast Topic: What will be your big story from the Mists of Pandaria press event?

Plenty of returning players are taking advantage of the new Scroll of Resurrection to see the end game of Cataclysm before the new expansion launches and are looking to Mists of Pandaria as a spiritual return to the Wrath of the Lich King boom. What are these players looking for that will keep them around?
New players, believe it or not, will be picking up Mists of Pandaria and will most likely be looking for compelling experiences rather than something that's been built on for years. The pandaren story may well be enough to bring new people into the game, a happy metaphor for the pandaren themselves.
What are you looking forward to hearing about the most?

I'm looking forward to hearing about what they're doing with item levels, raiding, World PvP (something I'm hoping they don't force upon those of us that don't want it), and most importantly if there's anything new with Hunters. For example, have they fixed the problem yet on the Talent Calculator where Kill Command is both a class ability and a BM ability?
Can't wait for next week!

I don't understand why people have such negative views of World PVP. IF you don't want it. Don't join a PVP server simple enough. I can't stand the people that complain on my sever Frostmane-US about getting ganked... DONT JOIN A PVP SERVER IF YOU DONT WANT WORLD PVP. I think it is about that simple.

However, I do agree with the other requests you suggested. I am excited to hear about some solid unheard of new things.

@TheMan: Arrowsmith is talking world changing PvP on all servers, I think. Like TB, but where it would affect PvE as well and you'd feel like you had to do it. Which I *really* don't want, either. Maybe its a hunter thing.

@Luotian: Basically, yes. I hear about the reigniting of World PvP, and as a guy that rolled on a PvE server and keeps his flag off on purpose, this worries me. Outside of dedicated zones, the only World PvP I ever encounter is griefers on the opposite faction camping a quest hub while sending all sorts of colorful emotes at me. That's not what I logged on for, and it's not what I am going to stay logged in for. I'm really hoping Blizzard does this right so that those of us who abhor PvP for our own reasons aren't inconvenienced by those that love it.
Also, at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, I loved the Pre-Wrath Zombie Event. It was the only time I found the continuous killing of important NPCs okay because, well, it's a zombie outbreak. Sh!t is going to hit the fan. I know I'm in the minority in that regard, but I thought it was a blast and would gladly do it again.

Blizzard said on multiple occassions that a focus on Alliance vs Horde conflict does not in any way translate into mandatory World PvP.
Of course Blizzard says a lot of things.

@TheMan - I know the age of RealID makes my arguments somewhat less valid, but I'm sure there are still plenty of people (like me) who rolled on PVP servers to play with their friends (long before RealID), and are now far too established there to drop what could potentially be $250 to transfer to a PVE server, just to avoid world PVP.
That isn't to say that I don't think it could work without disrupting the routines of people on PVP servers who actually hate PVP (me). There will always be max level characters in low-level zones that make questing there a little more annoying--pre-Cata Hillsbrad, anyone?--but if world PVP is designed to take place in an area that is somewhat easily avoidable by either lowbies or just people who want to avoid it, I can't see why it would be disruptive. In fact, it might give PVP-hungry folk something better to do than camp quest hubs and annoy the crap out of everyone who just wants to get their gold/loot and move on.

It's hard to pick just one thing that I want to hear about.
I love to raid with my team, and I'm looking forward to hints about the first raiding tier. I'm hoping that they stick with multiple smaller raids rather than one boring linear raid.
I enjoy professions, and I want to know what sort of goodies are coming my way.
I am one of those strange people who like archeology, so I want to hear what they're going to do with my unloved secondary profession.
Our guild is large, active and involved, I want to know what perks and achievements we'll be working on together.
I know that class changes are still fluid, and some classes feel very much unfinished. I want to know more about the buffs and nerfs on their way.
Oh! And server character limits! Have they fixed that issue yet? Am I going to have to delete someone to make a monk on my home server?
I can't possibly pick just one. The moment I click 'Add Comment' I'm likely to think of something else I want to see.

Account-wide achievements! Are they any closer to putting that together?
Will I be forced into pet battles in order to raid competetively?
Luotian Mar 14th 2012 8:45AM
I can tell you the last one isn't likely, or if it is they really screwed it up. Pet battles are supposed to be a fun casual mini-game. Any reward outside that system would just be silly.
Rich Mar 14th 2012 8:46AM
I don't like archaeology, I LOVE archaeology. Will we ever see Path of the Titans?
mr.e81 Mar 14th 2012 10:56AM
There will be no Path of the Titans. Actually, the Hour of Twilight heroics explain most of "path" and the New cata glyph system replaced the reward system.
mr.e81 Mar 14th 2012 10:59AM
@ Rich:
There will be no "Path of the Titan." The Hour of Twilight Heroic Dungeons explain the most of the plot behind the "Path" and the new Cata Glyph system replace the "Path" rewards.

Yea, I think I'm most interested in learning about the account wide achievements.
To me there's a (which came first) scenario that applies to pets/mounts and achievements that I really hope they answer soon... If you fish up a sea turtle (1st), you get an achievement (2nd). So if achieves are account wide, will all your toons get the mount, or will they just share the achieve leaving the toon that fished it up with the mount?
And if achieves are truly shared, I'm under the impression that all your toons can contribute to Meta raid achievements (1st), which then awards a mount (2nd). In this example, I really think every toon on the account should get the mount, or at the least, every toon that contributed towards the Meta should.
I also want to know more about the Pet Battle System... Not so much about the system, but about account wide pets. I want to know about the selling/buying option . There are a handful of (currently) BoP pets that I just don't feel like farming up right now (like the baradin fox). I want to know if pets from the TCG will be shared across the account or limited to the toon that turned them in. Will the TCG pets be allowed to battle, and if so, will they be able to be bought/sold as well?

For me the most exciting thing about MOP is the chance to explore again, so I'm hoping to hear something about the flavour of the new zones. I think one of Cataclysm's problems (and one that's been acknowledged in Blizzard's post-mortems) is that the scattered new zones diminished that epic feeling you get when you first play WOW, first step through the Dark Portal, first take the zeppelin to the Howling Fjord.
When MOP comes out, I can't wait to get on the balloon (or however we get there) and arrive for the first time on a new continent, see its coasts opening up and hear the first strains of its music. I might even hearthstone straight back to Orgrimmar so I can retake that journey right away. So I guess the things I want from the press event are clues: glimpses of an atlas. I don't want those first footsteps on Pandaria spoiled in advance, but I want to be tantalised by what's to come.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

.... Must have been while you were kissing me....
eel5pe Mar 14th 2012 9:54AM
the Horde will get an epic, action-packed, lore-filled adventure. The Alliance will get hijinks with Fargo.
Okay okay I'll stop being grumpy and cynical. It's too early for me...
Twowolves Mar 14th 2012 8:16AM
I'm interested in everything, minus high level raiding and PvP content.
Any information on new character models will be the talk of the town (of warcraft) right up until launch and beyond.
Jamie Mar 14th 2012 8:13AM
I'd be interested to hear exactly how they'll give incentive for travelling around the world to places rather than use the DF or RF.
I think it'll be incredibly hard to counter act what they've already put in place.
