My most memorable early death was to a spider in Ashenvale. I was a low level Tauren hunter. My first character. I knew next to nothing. I had to go into Ashenvale on a quest from The Barrens. Almost immediately upon entering the forest I was struck by the sheer beauty of the place, especially in contrast to Mulgore; and then I noticed the red dot on my map. Beast tracking was showing a spider right in front of me. I didn't see anything, so I though the spider was most likely up in tree, getting ready to drop on me. Scared the living crap out of me, the idea that some giant forest spider could just drop out nowhere and kill me, and that if hadn't had beast tracking I'd never have even seen it coming. When it did appear on the road, it killed my pet first then it came after me. I tried, but I couldn't out run it. At the time it was utterly terrifying.
