Nethaera -- Filler raid, MoP release
Quote:
Is MoP really more than 3 months away? How are we supposed to just raid Dragon Soul for 4 or 6 months till MoP is out?
Is there a filler raid planed?

We don't have a "filler" Raid planned. We have a wealth of information that we've been sharing with the media and press this week that they'll start sharing with you all next week (Monday, March, 19). While we aren't going to give you a release date, I think you'll get a good idea of how far along we are in the development of the expansion. We think you'll like what you see/hear/read.
We'll also be keeping an eye on any and all constructive feedback and answering what we can as development continues.
-----
We'll do our best to give everyone as much of a "heads-up" as possible when we do provide a release date. Don't worry. As always, you'll see it when you see it. :)
I'll add onto this with some additional thoughts.
There are still a lot of things to do and be done in the game currently beyond Raid content. We generally see people begin to "finish" content they may have not gotten to prior to the release of a new expansion or expansion patch and I think once we start talking about beta and getting people into the beta, we'll see more people posting about what those things are. There will be a lot more to do when Mists of Pandaria becomes available (new/additional things), that may take your focus from completing some of the things you're working on (or plan to work on) now. It's a good time to start thinking about what those things may be.
I'm not going to hint at how long that may be, so don't ask. It's just something to think about.

Your list is spurious at best. As others have pointed out, you've completely ignored features like Scenarios and Challenge Modes. You've ignored the fact that every single Pandaria raid will be available in raid finder. In the Cataclysm list, you listed things like a higher level cap and introductory dungeons without caveat, while you "disqualified" a lot of stuff from your Pandaria list for no good reason. Plus, a lot of the items on your list don't take nearly as much work or effort as the others, so just saying "this list has more numbers than that other list" is a very poor comparison. On top of all of that, you're comparing content in an expansion we know a lot about to content in an expansion we know very little about yet.
So let me rewrite those for you:
Cataclysm:
1. Two New Playable Races
2. Level Cap Increased
3. Classic Zones Remade/Flying in Azeroth (I'm lumping these together for obvious reasons)
4. New High-Level Zones
5. Three small raids at launch, plus a PVP-area raid along the lines of Wintergrasp
6. 7 new dungeons at release
7. Archaeology
8. New PvP Zone & Rated Battlegrounds
9. Guild Achievements
10 . New races/class combinations
Mist of Pandaria:
1. New Race: Pandaren (Cross-faction race! Can't forget how big a step this is!)
2. New Class: Monks
3. Totally revamped talent and ability system
4. Pet Battles
5. New Max-Level Areas
6. PVE Scenarios
7. Challenge Modes
8. Full LFR Integration for new raids (remember, this is a Mists feature that got finished early)
9. Higher level cap and guild level cap
10. A Firelands-style daily quest hub available from the start of the experience (very likely to be a Tol Barad or Wintergrasp type area, so I'll just lump that in here)
11. An unknown number of new dungeons
12. An unknown number of new battlegrounds
13. Vast diversification of ways to gain Valor Points, allowing unprecedented freedom of playstyle
And that's not even counting other stuff that is likely to have been Mists content that got finished early, like transmogrification, or stuff that is very likely to happen early on if not at Mists launch, like revamping all of the old character models. Even using your spurious logic, the comparison seems pretty clear to me. So far, Mists is kicking the crap out of Cata in terms of pure content, and we haven't even heard everything yet.
But all that said, let's *not* go there. Because a lot can happen between now and release day, and a list like this for Wrath would have included aerial battles and the dance studio, and one for Cata would have included Path of the Titans. Still and all, if you're complaining that Mists is going to be light in the content department compared to Cata, you're either deluding yourself or, and this is more likely, just not counting the content that you're not interested in. If so, screw you, guy. There's a few million of us who aren't heroic raiders, and it's about time people get rewarded for playing the game in reasonable chunks instead of marathon sessions.

I can que you in, that no company with any good biz sense tries to cater to someone who makes posts like this. These are the same grumpy people who go out to eat and think the more the complain and critique the better the food and service will be. You are a lost cause, my friend and your inability to be impressed is a mental issue you have. Not trying to be a dick.

"leveling 4 levels takes 12 hours (considering how long it took me to lvl 84-85 x4)"
I thought for sure it would be half an hour considering how long it took me to head over to Goldshire. Oh, and it's five levels. 85-86, 86-87, 87-88, 88-89, 89-90. I don't know why I'm bothering with this obvious troll, but oh well...
Joakim Mar 16th 2012 10:25AM
I think your greatest complaint is, in fact, about the new race. Else you wouldn't have dropped the "dots". I didn't se any dots after worgen, wich is also an "animal in humanoid form".
What is it with pandas, really? They're cuddly, they're drunk (well, can be) and they will kick your ass - I mean, what's not to like :D ?
Snuzzle Mar 16th 2012 11:00AM
As a five man player, I can say tha seven dungeons at release is the smallest we've ever had. In Wrath we had at least a dozen, and in TBC I believe there were 15 (though I haven't counted recently). Plus, in TBC the normal 70 dungeons were a challenege unto themselves that had to be scraped through dozens of times before you could even unlock heroic. Cataclysm gave us the least amount of old-cap-to-new-cap content (only five zones) and the least amount of stuff to do at new cap (only seven dungeons and three raids).
Not that I don't understand why--- they put a lot of dev time into remaking the old world, and it needed to be done. But higher level content suffered, and it showed.
To assume that there will be even less content than that is poor logic. The natural assumption is that there will be much more, as they did not have an extra 60 levels of content and zones to redo.
Andras Mar 16th 2012 1:06AM
At every commentor: Maybe if you read the last sentence, this little blog I wrote would make much more sense.
Just to add; I did purposly leave out challenge modes and pve senarios.
Challenge modes - another harder mode (just a step above heroic).
PvE scenarios -is not on the blizz pandaria website.
I didn't counted LFR in Mist because it's a feature introduced in late Cata (notice i also didnt count it in catalysm either) . To shrikesnest: what your doing now is trying to make catalysm look bad in comparison to mist without any real information about mist.
Meatdraw Mar 16th 2012 1:55AM
"...without any real information about mists."
Pretty much sums up why this conversation is dust in the wind, and reinforces Shrikesnests' point.

Totally living the idea of completein stuff before its too late.I will be loremaster before Pandoria lands! Also, getting my professions up with alts and doing other cheivo's. Plenty of fun in azeroth to be had, no feeling left out here!
seksivitez Mar 16th 2012 2:14AM
At the moment I am trying to find the time to enjoy the gigantic amount of new low level stuff they packed into Cata. Honestly I think it is very sad that so many people who play the game JUST for the end game raid/gear. I would hate to be someone like that who cannot just enjoy the little things.
Of course I myself have gotten close to leaving this world because of a lifetime fight with a disease.
They really are pushing out a lot of new, great content and games the past 2 years!!
Nina Katarina Mar 16th 2012 7:57AM
Well, I hope you stick around for this expansion and beyond. From what the devs say, there are going to be lots more little things in this expansion, little easter eggs and sideline quests. I look forward to searching them out.
raptoos Mar 16th 2012 4:49AM
sad, very sad answer. We won't get any filler raid, nor information, how long the only thing we can do in game is farming ds. But don't be afraid! We will provide large amount of info about next exp!
We don't need subscription to read this infos
Noyou Mar 16th 2012 5:40AM
If you read between the lines- they are not putting out a filler raid because they believe they will have the expac out sooner rather than later.
Ace Mar 16th 2012 10:30AM
Reading between the lines is hard work. People nowadays need things spelled out for them, in no uncertain terms, in multiple languages, and spelled out phonetically or else they start making assumptions that have nothing to do with what was or wasn't said, and get sand in their nether regions.
mazca13 Mar 16th 2012 7:34AM
From Ghostcrawler's comments about the Abyssal Maw raid that they decided to shelve because it wasn't that good - I got the impression that it might have been the filler raid if they'd felt they needed one. It was described as a three-boss raid in Nespirah without any new boss models; I imagine they could polish it up and bring it out if they actually thought we were in danger of an ICC-length stay in Dragon Soul. The fact that they aren't probably demonstrates they're fairly confident of a summer release of MoP.
jfofla Mar 16th 2012 10:21AM
The leaked schedule, which has been spot on for every release date on it, listed MOP release as June.
MOP will come in June.
DragonFireKai Mar 16th 2012 12:57PM
Except that the leaked schedule listed Diablo 3 and Heart of the Swarm as 2011 Q4 releases. In fact, aside from the content that was already released when the leak occured, nothing on that schedule was released on time. Even the portuguese localization of WoW was a quarter late.

I will die if I have to wait any longer about the wow movie they said it would come out 2008, 4 years ago, and we still have no new info? They cant be in the scripting page for 3 years... I dont think it will even come out at this rate
