I bet 5 to 1 on horde favoritism too!
Swifteye Mar 15th 2012 9:27AM
Mhm.
That's like saying I know somebody who is a total insufferable racist, I see them coming, and my groaning "Oh great, this asshat's gonna start saying [bad thing] about [race]" means that I actually think/acknowledge said [bad thing] about said [race] is true.
Yor logic is flawed. Nice try though.

*your... curse you, unreliable "u" key! >.

I don't see Horde favoritism... I see how everything began with Ally favoritism.
Jump into an AV and you'll see how the world started. Snowfall Graveyard cannot be taken by Horde first, it's geographically closer to the Ally base. The Horde bunkers can be taken without triggering the guards if you have stealth--not so the Ally design, click on the flag and you get shot full of arrows. The Ally base design is more defensible than the Horde base... that bridge can be brutal.
Heck, even in AB--unless someone forgets to grab it, the stables will always be claimed a fraction of a second before the farm. It's just marginally closer. In Wrath, Stormwind got a huge new harbor... Orgrimmar was going to have a harbor but it was scrapped for a zeppelin tower in the time crunch.
And really... I'm sure you could come up with counters to each of my arguments, proving that the bias is really more in the mind of the player than anything. We're programed to remember every injury clearly and positive experiences fade with time. This is an evolutionary function- It's more important to avoid leopards than to remember how to make a comfy bed... beds can't kill you.

@Swifteye
Acknowledge doesn't necessarily mean agree. Vegeto isn't saying you endorse Horde favoritism (and I'll see you in the battlefield if you do :D) but that you *acknowledge* it's existence.
SamLowry Mar 15th 2012 12:12PM
Oh, you want to get into BG favoritism? How about all the times the countdown stage ended for my Alliance group with the Horde symbol.
And why is it that the skinner/first aid/herbalist quest-giver at the Faire sent my Alliance characters off with "For the Horde"?
Swifteye Mar 15th 2012 12:22PM
@byronius
Yes, Vegeto *is* saying I acknowledge Horde favoritism, and I had thought my previous post made it clear why I thought that was incorrect. I would like to know WHY people think that:
"acknowledging that the Alliance has an oft-proven tendency to cry 'Favoritism!' at the drop of a hat, particularly whenever Thrall is mentioned (AND HE IS MENTIONED EVERYWHERE BECAUSE CHRIS METZEN HAS A TOTAL MAN-CRUSH ON THE CHARACTER IN GENERAL, NOT JUST AS A HORDE LEADER)"
=
"acknowledging that Horde favoritism actually and irrefutably exists"
@SamLowry
I would be willing to bet very good money that there are FAR more Human Male neutral questgivers in the game overall who spout "For the Alliance" at Horde characters, than there are any neutral NPCs who are likely to shout "For the Horde" at an Alliance member. That fact doesn't *bother* me, just putting it out there since you saw fit to bring it up.
Ullaana Mar 15th 2012 9:19AM
Just wondering why Thrall is still considered the Horde Faction leader? I would prefer to think of him, currently at least, the same way I do about Chen, non-aligned.
Matheus314 Mar 15th 2012 9:33AM
Thrall is as much as a Horde faction leader as Malfurion is an Alliace faction leader.
Ullaana Mar 15th 2012 9:40AM
Actually, Garrosh should be shown as the Horde faction Leader.
And as an Alliance player I don't think Magni should be representing the dwarves because he isn't currently in a position of leadership, what with being all diamondy.
viciouspen Mar 15th 2012 9:46AM
Because Mr. Metzen (I have no freaking sense of keeping perspective or doing anything but fapping out to my own personal addictions) already broke protocol and told horde players they'd be getting Thrall back as Warchief in Mists.
Which if you ask me, more than anything confirms that there is a faction favoritism problem and a problem with blizzard being professional and keeping perspective.
Ullaana Mar 15th 2012 11:31AM
@ viciouspen,
Could you link that so I may read it, or if it's on Youtube see it, that I may get the full comment. Thanks.
SamLowry Mar 15th 2012 12:52PM
"a problem with blizzard being professional and keeping perspective"
That issue was highlighted very clearly at the 2011 Blizzcon. We'd spent months trading conspiracy theories about dev favoritism while piecing together fragmentary clues like crazily obsessive X-Files/Alias/Lost fans...and then they came out on stage in Horde T-shirts and shouted "For the Horde".
Way to drag the conspiracy theories kicking and screaming out of the closet, guys.
Al Mar 15th 2012 5:19PM
@ Ullaana, second paragraph down. (Doesn't mention Mists, but this is probably the quote)

Ullaana Mar 15th 2012 6:18PM
@ Al,
Thanks, and that does seem to indicate his return. I am hoping that since Magni is depicted in the Monopoly game he's coming back to.
jonblaze81 Mar 15th 2012 9:33AM
The Sylvanas note should have ("For Now...") under the Horde symbol.
StClair Mar 15th 2012 12:14PM
Or the Forsaken symbol instead.
"Why, MY side, first and always."
Ragthorne Mar 15th 2012 9:39AM
Lol I don't Know about you guys but I´m sick of thrall, maybe because he´s been literaly popping up on my face for more than a year in cata-thrall, now he´ll be popping up on Monopoly as the big bill? whats next? a novel? (already exists) a megablock toy? (already exists). People on Blizzard have to realize this will sooner or later back fire in a way of cataclysmic proportions (or panda proportions)
viciouspen Mar 15th 2012 9:43AM
Oh look at that.
Metzen made sure Thrall was the 500 bill.
Color me green with surprise.
And blizz wonders why they keep getting faction favoritism wars.
Should have pulled their heads out of wherever they stick them and for once make a smart move and have made the 500 bill a neutral character.
Cause oh look, that's not neutral Thrall there, it's warchief Thrall.
Daedalus Mar 15th 2012 10:22AM
Very funny; you totally captured that whole "enraged fanboy" mindset. Still, maybe a little over-the-top for satire; you don't want to take it too far, or you risk people reading it and thinking "Come on, not even the worst aggrieved Alliance fan could be that bad."
You WERE kidding, right?
