Good points. Here's a couple things we can do for now.

On 1.) While you can't search by item level, in Auctioneer you can sort search results by item level. Depending on which market I use an alt for, I run either Auctioneer OR Auctionator.

On 4.) I use Postal to automatically open all my mail. It gives me a read-out of what's collected.
