Breakfast Topic: What's your one wish for Mists of Pandaria?
OK, we all know it's coming. There have been exciting releases like the female pandaren silhouette hitting the web, with a promise of more come March 19. Blizzard is fielding a really strong marketing focus this expansion, giving us tidbits of information, leaving us wanting more.
So I bet we're all starting to imagine what the new expansion might bring in our chosen favorite aspect of the game. You may think my main role here is writing Breakfast Topics, but actually I'm a PvP columnist and that's my focus in WoW, so my wish would be PvP-related. Now, you may think I'm whining or complaining unnecessarily, but I'd really like to see Mana Burn taken out of the game. I know, I know, it has a long cast time and is mana-expensive to cast, but I hate it. I hate being CC'd and mana burned. So that's my one wish.
What's yours? You're only allowed one, but it could be anything, anything at all. Use your imagination! Want all the retro raids in the Raid Finder? Wish for it! Want to see a huge statue of Lady Sylvanas in Orgrimmar? Hmm, I might swap Mana Burn for that ... I have a bit of a girl crush on Sylvanas.

I thought if you ignored someone in RF or DF it wouldn't group you with them again.
Cuddles Mar 16th 2012 11:07AM
@ryan yes, but it's a one-off thing. It doesn't ignore that person's alts, or people like them. I'm hoping something can be built on that.
And the "like" function would be to nudge the system to group you with folks you had a good time with.
And there are simple algorithms out there that can figure out "if you liked this, then you'll probably like that" and vice-versa.
This would allow the "go-go-goer" elitists to be more likely to be grouped with others like them, and allow people who like to be patient and helpful and explain things and have a good time to find each other. Win for everyone.
I came back after a long absence, and had a great run a few weeks ago that kept me wanting to play for a long time. Then I had a series of runs where I was just flamed and berated because I didn't know everything (even though I always announced that I was new and learning fights and tips were appreciated and watched vids and read strats) and because I had a blue weapon still (ironically because the few times a tank weapon dropped, it was ninjaed by jerks) or dps shoulders (though reformed, chanted, and gemmed properly). Logged off in anger, asking myself why I would want to pay to be treated that way. I know there are great folks out there playing this game, but there's just no way for me to do anything to find them again.

Yea, the like system would be great. I know how you feel though, I've got 5 toons I run through lfr, I'm garunteed at least one group who is constantly yelling or qq'ing.
I always try to help people, and will usually try and stick up for them and put that elitist back in their place.

I would like to see all instances adjust for level. So, if I love Gnomeregan and I am level 90, I can get a group together and go. Now, at 85, I go into Gnomer and hit my iwin button and it's over.
slim1256 Mar 16th 2012 10:28AM
I disagree -
Right now, you go into Gnomeregan, hit your "I Win" button, and then spend the next two hours trying to figure out how to get the hell out.
At least - that's been my experience.

Story and NPC characters that don't just stand there, ones that you can relate to and care about. If you want to see an example, see Garrus Vakarian. Those who know, know.

Hyper threading support for my processor.
Mofogo Mar 16th 2012 9:47AM
Just be good enough for my old guild buddies to come back and stay. Because that would bring me back and stay.

My one wish... if we can wear it, we can use it for transmogifying. I STILL want to use my frying pan and brewfest dress!
Chetti Mar 16th 2012 9:51AM
I am really wishing for either more character slots per realm, or the idea I've seen tossed around (I think it was in a blue post) about removing the characters per realm limit but keeping the cap of characters per account at 50 (this number could be wrong, I forget the current cap). I'd really like the no limit per server, but I'd be happy with just 1-2 more slots.
Luotian Mar 16th 2012 9:56AM
More character slots per server, for sure. I'd like to be able to transmog different armor types as well. They can keep the stats restriction, and even an armor type you could wear at some point (which would be a bit unfair to clothies, but if I could wear it once I don't see why I couldn't wear it now, story-wise).
Hunter stuff :D.

Seriously awesome female pandas.
Seriously awesome pet battles.
To have fun again ... these days I feel like I log in to raid with friends, or to raid competitively .. but so much of it just isn't fun any more. It's just one long grind these days of stuff I just don't enjoy doing.
I miss Kara. I miss the Isle of Quel'Danas .. I miss realm communities .. I missed epic raid encounters ..
Jordan Mar 16th 2012 10:24AM
That panda haters stop hating.
jfofla Mar 16th 2012 10:24AM
My one wish for MOP is for WOW Subs to soar past 15 million so that the Panda and WOW haters twist in agony.
Hillazon Mar 16th 2012 10:31AM
That we get more Harrison Jones, this time with an orphan panda sidekick, Short Round.
Hopefully we get him for an ENTIRE zone this time, instead of having to share the zone with an unrelated plot and cat people.
And longer cut-scenes with remastered "cowering" animations.
/what?
zackwbrandon Mar 16th 2012 4:35PM
Your sarcasm is /win!
Muse Mar 16th 2012 10:31AM
That when reports start coming in from beta, and people go, "Oh look at this, it's the most awesome quest ever!" that it's a quest that's available to Alliance this time.
Boobah Mar 16th 2012 2:39PM
But "The Day Deathwing Came" IS available to alliance players.
Don't get me wrong, "Welcome to the Machine" is awesome, too, but it's not the best quest ever.

New battlegrounds? Unless their ideas are "AB with 7 nodes" or another CTF clone. Yes I am aware they said they want to add in a Murderball, a Payload, and a DotA style map. But they said they were doing DotA style in Wrath and we got... SotA.
Actually AB with 7 nodes sounds kinda cool.

Tri-specialization. My main spec is dps, my off-spec is for pvp, but I'd love to be able to have a pocket tank spec as well, just in case my raid needed it. It's a pain having to respec/glyph in these situations. I think it would get players to try roles they haven't tried before because they wouldn't have to give up the specs they use on a day to day basis. Also, I know I'll never see it, but having one set of tier pieces for hybrid classes, that would change stats depending on your spec. It's a lot easier for pure classes. I understand the stat weights change depending on a pure class' spec, but an easy reforge takes care of it. Having to farm for two sets is already a pain, but it would be nice if at least our tier pieces were interchangeable with our dps/tank/healing specs. Once again, I believe that this would get players to try new roles. The idea of having to do the valor/token grind for a second time is just not an appealing option for a lot of people. I know both of these are a reach, but hell, if they did it, I'd be a lot more excited about Mists.
