Mists press NDA lifts at 12:01 a.m. PDT on Monday, March 19, 2012

People have been asking this question left and right lately about when exactly the NDA lifts. Because, you know, people want to come here and find all this juicy Mists of Pandaria info.

The answer is simple, and I've even broken it down into time zones for you all:

12:01 a.m. PDT on Monday
1:01 a.m. MDT on Monday
2:01 a.m. CDT on Monday
3:01 a.m. EDT on Monday
7:01 a.m. London time on Monday
8:01 a.m. Paris time on Monday
6:01 p.m. Sydney, Australia time on Monday

At that point, you'll see an immediate flood of information from us and a number of other publications. Not a moment sooner.

There might be a stupidly easy answer to this but, can Adam tell the other writers at WoW insider the info bubbling in his brain so they can prepare articles? Or would that be a case of breaking the NDA?

I think it depends on who agreed to the NDA. I don't know how it's done exactly, but I'd imagine that if some editors aren't attending the actual press tour, they'd still need to read the written material to proofread.

Or they just go through the standard memory wipe.

I think it's the site itself that the NDA is bound to, so he's sharing all the pertinent information with the right people so they can be all like:
MoP will be awesome for Warriors, just look at these swords!
MoP will be awesome for lore, omg you're not going to believe this!
MoP will be awesome for gold-making, stock up on this stuff!
MoP will be awesome for balance druids, here's some spreadsheets!

Otherwise the people who actually got to go will be really busy writing articles outside of their particular specialties.

Blizzard said they didn't want to put pressure on the press people to put out material before they're ready-so of course they lift the NDA in the middle of the night. Golly, I hope the people who need to see the info (but who aren't covered by the NDA) can see it before Midnight.

As much as I like the idea of waking up to news, it seems like a lot of people are going to be having a sleepless night.

No, he used EDT instead, because EST (US Eastern Standard TIme) ended last weekend :)

Isn't it always EST since the time change becomes the standard for telling time? Think about it.

No...

Eastern Standard time is, more correctly and referring to GMT, "GMT-5". PST is "GMT-8"

During Daylight time, we move an hour "closer" to GMT since we're an hour ahead, and so EDT is "GMT-4", PDT is "GMT-7".

If you spent the greater part of your life calculating everything in terms of being 16-19 hours ahead of the server (and accidentally missing or turning up to raids a day late/early), you'd understand why the Australians are overjoyed to see it listed for them. It deserves a cookie. Maybe two. ;)
