The gold limit one won't happen it'll just foster people buying gold with RL money. Yes, people will do it.

How about we tweak it a bit. "Earn 1 million gold through auction house sales."

If they added some caveats I could see it working. Sure, a blanket "earn 999,999 gold" would just encourage gold selling. But setting it to "earn 999,999 gold via the Auction House, quest rewards and vendor sales" would be better. And wouldn't even be that much more technically challenging (as they already track at least some of these amounts in game).I'm sure some 'enterprising' people would find ways to get around these stricter restrictions. But that's true of basically everything in life.

"Earn 1 million gold through auction house sales."Isn't that's how they transfer the gold to you, so you don't have to be online at the same time as the seller?

And worse yet, sporting this achievement is like a giant "hack me" sign burned on your forehead.

I'm probably not alone, but I send everything I sell to a bank alt, so my main's bags aren't cluttered up - although, if achievements become account-wide, this wouldn't be an issue.

This actually seems like a great way to ID players who buy gold. Audit everyone who earns the achievement. If a giant lump sum of gold suddenly appeared in their bag and didn't come from an alt, time for the ban hammer.

Make it a stacking achievement and give us a way to stack more than a million gold on one character. Two million, you get the next acheive. Five million, same thing. Ten million, you get the mount and your own therapist as a companion. If you don't have the gold in the bank, you lose the achieves (but you still need the therapist). Giving for auctions sold or gold earned can be fiddled with just by passing the same pile of gold around. Making it "gold in your pocket" will greatly reduce the chances of gaming the system. I imagine even the largest gold seller is going to have trouble filling many multiple-millions orders from players willing to buy their way into the system (and it's probably a huge red flag on their account if they do).

There's no chance in hell that they're going to institute an achievement for making gold like that. Not just because of any potential gold selling issues, which is a concern, but also because it would frankly completely ruin the economy. I understand that getting that amount of money is a concern, but they don't WANT tons people getting gold capped. Think about how much money would suddenly be introduced into the game. Beyond that, how much would that ruin the auction house? People wouldn't spend in order to retain their gold, hoping to work on the achievement. The auction house would be absolutely flooded with mats/items/etc. by people working on the achievement.Way too many negative impacts to make them want to motivate people to get gold capped.
