I used to be notorious in my raid group for showing up to fight in as little as possible, mostly to embarrass and annoy key members of the office corps and the other tanks in tank chat. Transmogrification is one of those systems that caught me by surprise, considering I had thought it was a concept that would never, ever make it into
World of Warcraft. Once I got to see the system in action on the PTR, I was hooked.
Does your guild have any rules about transmogrification outfits in raids? Showing up in goofy clothing and wacky outfits is par for the course in video games with outfit customization, and people love to joke around and have a good time. Many raiding guilds take things a bit more seriously, though. And what do you do about someone with an inappropriate outfit and complaints?
How does your guild deal with revealing transmogged outfits?

Many raiding guilds take RAIDING seriously, as long as your lack of armour doesn't actually mean you're lacking in armour (or rather, stats) I've never met anyone who'd have a problem with it
Gendou Mar 17th 2012 8:36AM
Indeed. Raiders aren't the people who care about the visuals of your gear - they only care about the stats.
Roleplayers, on the other hand, may comment - in character and out of character - on any given mode of dress.

Wait, what? This isn't the catwalk? I knew I should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque.

@Camo...lol.. nice..

Haha, our top dps/ideas guy in one guild is the guy whose bank and bags are too full of tmog gear to get raid loot. :P

The limits of my worrying about fashion is to occasionally buy a shirt to match my gear or not display a helmet. I only notice it on the character screen, as my camera is too far out in actual fights to distinguish detailed outfits. I've never transmogged and I identify too much with my toons to have a female, but I realise I may be in a minority. As for objecting to clothing, considering some of the looks of my undead, troll and orc guildies, skimpy clothing isn't really going to make a difference ;-)
However, yesterday when I stumbled upon guildies playing dressups with their female toons to get a "sexy" raid together (started by one of our female members), saying that heroics and DF were too boring, I began to pray MoP comes soon ;-)

Somehow, even as an officer of a guild that loves RP, I can't see us making rules about how people transmog their gear. If someone showed up to a raid wearing a plate bikini, we would probably tease them about it, then move on. After all, over the years we've all had to wear some ridiculous looking stuff and that was while wearing the latest tier. Like poor feral druids wearing a bizarre mix of rogue and druid leather (especially during Ulduar). That's worse than showing a little pixelated skin, in my opinion. ;)

Yeah, my raiding group has chat rules due to the "guild mom" being disapproving of foul or dirty language (she's a minister's wife), but she's never said anything negative about anyone's transmog, and a couple of our folks love sexy outfits on their characters--one guy's female DK wears plate-kinis all the time! In fact there are sometimes compliments on making particularly interesting, sexy, cool, suited-to-the-character outfits, IC and OOC. And when we raid, we raid; even if we make IC comments and jokes, there are more important things than clothes to consider when our characters are facing, say, a giant Twilight Dragon.
Given the game's T rating, anything many people may find objectionable in public is covered. So even if it's sexy and revealing, there's nothing excessively naughty going on. No RP group I know restricts transmog on my server.
Given my RP guild's military-style set up, and the fact we have cloth "dress uniforms" we wear to meetings and formal events in game, people asked us if we were going to enforce a uniform when transmog came around. My instant response, that the guild leader agreed with, was "no." 1) We'd have to find easily-obtainable gear sets for every armor type. 2) Telling people how they "must" transmog *their* gear on *their* characters felt very, very wrong to both of us. The "battle uniform" is whatever gear one needs to do their job, and the guild tabard (basic, unless their using the rep-gaining ones; we don't require those either due to the rep reqs and costs for new/low level players). If that gear is a platekini, power to 'em. Least it's not as likely to be a clown suit of mismatched pieces anymore!

If my guild didn't like seeing male tauren showing up wearing a loincloth and a leather harness, then they'd better get someone else to heal for them~
Our mage shows up in a 'pimp' style outfit, so I don't think we're too bad. The druid tank actually has the same harness/loincloth that I do, but, is a bear all the time so there's no way to tell.
Possum Mar 17th 2012 8:24AM
I think you'd have to be hella uptight to object really. I mean, it's what they themselves have chosen to wear.
Calaana Mar 17th 2012 10:14AM
Family based guild, or similar deal, could have objections, but they'll have like minded members(normally) so that won't be too big of a deal for those it matters too.
Now, if a pug freaks out, well, I'm tanking in a lovely black dress every chance I get, just to spite them.
Snuzzle Mar 17th 2012 11:21AM
Really, a family guild would have problems with skimpy trasmog sets? That's a little extreme. It's not like they're going to see a nip slip or anything, it's no different from what their girls might dress their Barbies in. Or what they would see IRL at a beach. I dressed my belfadin in a plate-kini for laughs, and if someone told me I had to change because "my kid is playing with me" I'd tell them maybe their kid shouldn't be playing a T rated game.
Marac Mar 17th 2012 8:33AM
I really, really can't believe this an issue. If people are that uptight they should really quit playing a "game".
Ata Mar 17th 2012 12:56PM
Yeah, I admit I saw the topic and went 'wait, people have a problem with this?" and kinda wondered if there was a raiding guild run by Puritans out there or something.
Luotian Mar 17th 2012 8:36AM
I can't see rules being made about it, although I find it rather distasteful myself. The fact that anybody would, collectively, seems...a little odd to me, but not terribly so depending on what your guild was based on. If ever found a guild where all the members were my same religion (for example) I could see it being mandatory that your character maintain the same standards of dress as we do in real life.
That being said, in my current guild, Transmog is mostly limited to me, my sister, and a friend of mine that is determined to make all his tanks look as much like priests as possible just to confuse absolutely everyone.
MaienM Mar 17th 2012 9:52AM
What a noble goal of your tank. That actually made me lol, I quite like that idea... Might do that to a character of mine later ;)
Luotian Mar 17th 2012 10:53AM
His DK looks *just* like a priest, it confuses the crap out of everyone we PuG with. Its kind of a blast.
Possum Mar 17th 2012 7:58PM
What is his set? I wouldn't think you could pull off a plate priest look.
ravyncat Mar 17th 2012 8:36AM
My Guild Leader dresses all his female clothies in black mageweave leggings...so yeah...no rules in my guild. XD
I don't think I would enjoy a guild that had rules on what you could transmog. O_o;;
Melvyl Mar 17th 2012 8:38AM
I don't see how you can complain if your raid has any male Blood Elves as members because they can make anything look good.
