Hunters to get Stampede in Mists of Pandaria

This "Stampede" ability is one that the hunter community has been requesting for years and should provide a valuable burst DPS cooldown that will serve the class well in both PvE and PvP. We have yet to get confirmation that this ability will be available to all hunter specs, but since Ghostcrawler referred to it as a hunter ability rather than a beast mastery ability, it seems likely to be a class baseline ability that enables every hunter spec to unleash a frenzy of rabid death into their opponents' faces.I don't think we have talked about what we are doing for the hunter yet. I think a lot of hunter players have guessed it but the hunter level 87 ability is basically you get all your pets at once for a short amount of time. So if you have 5 pets in your stable, they all come out and do damage for a little bit of time, and that's really fun cooldown for them. I think it increases Beast Master's damage by 80% while they're out, or something ridiculous like that. That's a pretty fun one.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Hunter, Mists of Pandaria

Not necessarily... Given that BM's mastery boosts pet DPS, it makes sense that they'd get the greatest DPS boost from an ability that summons all their pets at once, and thus this may just be a case of "And look how big a boost this is to the hunter spec that has been trailing behind for the past several years" type of comment.

That wasn't how I read it. I interpreted his comment to say, basically, that all hunters will get the ability. For the duration of the CD, hunters will gain the increased DPS associated with having 4 more pets out. However, in the case of BM hunters, in addition to the quintuple-ish pet damage, BM hunters will receive an 80% buff to their OWN damage.
I could be wrong, but that was how I read it.

If it was a BM ability, it would be something you'd gain at 10 (or immediately upon speccing BM) and not at 87. Simply by virtue of being a level 87 ability, it has to be class-wide.

I bet Frostheim peed himself reading this.

I really. Really Hate this ability.
Thanks a lot Frost. You gave us a dps cooldown, thats pretty cool and all. but its just a stupid remake of the DK and Druid abilitys. AWESOME!! SO COOL! PWNZER!!!!
So many cool things they could have done. Now I get to push a button and see 5 pets charge in and naw on something for 10 seconds and then just vanish. Thats lame. Thats really really lame.
Krytture Mar 19th 2012 3:35PM
Oh yeah, and the Warlocks just got it too. So now we are one big happy cloned dps family.

Wow. Don't take thos the wrong way, but you're phenomenally dead inside...

Seriously?
This comes off as "Whaaaaaaa!!!! I'm not a special little snowflake!!!"
Did you cry when Ghostcrawler didn't give you a moose too?
The programmers spent time on a cool system and you don't want anyone but 1/11th of the game to use it?
That's like taking the flying mount system away because Druids can fly.
Are you the 1%?

You seem a bit short-sighted on this one. Don't forget, hunters have a lot more latitude as to what the five pets in their stables are. I foresee a great deal of customization available to hunters as to how this ability works, and it may provide them an additional, situational tool. Have a boss that's melee friendly? Stack your stable with melee pets. Range friendly? bring on the ... pets that can do ranged attacks (okay, I'm light on hunter pet abilities). Still, it seems that this ability, while certainly in the same vein as Army of the Dead, Force of Nature and Mirror Images, will offer some very unique capabilities.

As an Alliance player, I can't wait to send five Sambas' at some poor unsuspecting Hordie.

Only if you roll up on them while on the Lion Mount first.
