I think the ability may use the appearance of the pets only, with normalized damage and no special abilities.

I sure hope that's the case. I like to keep a turtle around for soloing and I'd hate to be forced to go to the Stable Master to get my tank pet for solo and Ferocity pet for raids again. That crap sucked.
