Mists of Pandaria: Female pandaren

We got a good look at the female pandaren model at the press event, and I have to say I'm really just super pleased with it. Unfortunately, we only have the one screenshot, but I'll go into some detail here as to what worked so well with them.
First, before you jump to conclusions based on the image provided, let me tell you about female pandaren customization.

At the press event, only one face option was available, but reps told me that they would have lots of variation in their faces, just like the males. Players can choose from a large variety (at least two dozen, if I recall correctly) of marking patterns on their faces and bodies, ranging from classic panda spots to ones that look like diagonal scars to just one eye being covered.
The hairstyles are similarly varied, with a lot of short haircuts and Asian-inspired dos. Expect Chun-Li buns, chopsticks in your hair, Ibuki bangs, and more when you load up the character creation screen.
In motion, the model looks great. They're animated just as well as their male counterparts -- that is to say, really well. There's so much expression in their faces when they interact with quest givers, get into combat, emote and more. They're downright Disney in the amount of expression you get while running out in the world. (No, their /dance wasn't hooked up yet.)
If it seems like I'm giving Blizzard lip service here, well, I'm honestly just very happy with this model, especially after female worgen. It looks and plays great and has a lot of customization options, including one the male model just doesn't get at all. Look forward to playing one in the beta!
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. I completely agree. I thought the exact same thing; I immediately saw the chipettes, from the new movies. It's the cheeks and the silly smile. The thing is, I'm not even usually a complainer about these things.
I'm so grateful for what we've seen so far; the body is wonderful. She could have been even larger and more rubenesque and I would have been perfectly content. I'm just disappointed in the face. I know that there are supposedly going to be more options this time around, but will they change the shape of the eyes, allow me to have a furrowed brow, or tighter cheeks, like the males? I just want an option of having the male's face, but slightly adjusted so that it's just ever so slightly softer and more feminine. Can that be a single option?
Again, I feel so badly, b/c I rarely complain about this sort of stuff. But, I'm just super down about the eyes, cheeks, lack of furrow, and smile. I think the males look tough and cute at the same time. Can we have a face that works the same for the girls?

I love the idea of getting a tail.
christine_a_daae Mar 19th 2012 3:15AM
Red panda for me! Absolutely adorable!
KataSamoes Mar 19th 2012 3:19AM
Yay!

Whats with all the people commenting and sounding disappointed because Red Panda's were included?
I don't care of if they are technically in the raccoon family, they are the CUTEST DANG CREATURES EVER.
*can't wait to have a tail*

I know, it's like they got a bonus sub race and they're complaining..
Shrikesnest Mar 19th 2012 3:26AM
Absolutely fantastic. If you think otherwise, you're wrong. If you're currently rushing to the comment box to hammer out a five-thousand word rant in all caps that includes any of the following terms, please fire a gigantic directional electromagnet at your computer and go soak your head with a bucket of cold ice water: "furry" "Chipette" "gummy bear" "reused female dwarf model" "weeaboo" or any variation on "fatass". Thank you, and have a marvelous Monday.

Dude, relax. You make a lot of valid points but you do the exact opposite. You fire a preemptive shot against anyone criticizing the slightest detail. No one is going off here. I'm sure people will but chill out and enjoy the info.

@Noyou
Shrikesnest takes things kind of serious... too serious... but we don't mind having them around.
@Shrikesnest
Agreed... but really... you do take things too seriously.
Shrikesnest Mar 19th 2012 8:54AM
Yeah, I do, and in direct proportion to my medication not being there, I'll admit. Still, in the harsh light of mornimg, this ome cast the net too wide. Mea Culpa.

Given that red pandas are not true pandas at all, or even closely related, the evolutionary history of the Pandaren must be fascinating to have produced these two female variants!
slythwolf Mar 19th 2012 2:06PM
They're a fantasy race of anthropomorphic talking bears, and your problem is that the vague real-world basis for their coloring is slightly implausible?
Keep in mind they exist in a world where crocodiles have six legs.

My personal favorite counter argument to logic in a magical setting such as Warcraft is, as always:
Dude, you can get a dragon in your mailbox.

The red female Pandaren have tails? I really want to see screenshots!
Possum Mar 19th 2012 3:44AM
You talk about this wonderful tail Michael but you haven't provided any screenshots. Bad Michael >:(

All of my PC friends are jumping on the "she should be rounder" bandwagon, but I like her, and I don't care who knows it. She's adorable, respectable, and not a typical fantasy waif.
Rich Mar 19th 2012 3:53AM
looks rather like a female dwarf in a panda suit
Joakim Mar 19th 2012 8:57AM
It could be worse, you know. It could be a worgen in an ogre suit.
*bada-bish!*
:)
Dreyja Mar 19th 2012 7:17PM
You say that like it's a bad thing. ;-p I can see this being my second favorite toon, right after ALL my FEMALE DWARVES. ;-p
Dementron Mar 19th 2012 8:45PM
Or an ogre in a worgen suit.
OH GOD THE MENTAL IMAGE GET IT OUT OF MY BRAIN
