Mists of Pandaria: Female pandaren

We got a good look at the female pandaren model at the press event, and I have to say I'm really just super pleased with it. Unfortunately, we only have the one screenshot, but I'll go into some detail here as to what worked so well with them.
First, before you jump to conclusions based on the image provided, let me tell you about female pandaren customization.

At the press event, only one face option was available, but reps told me that they would have lots of variation in their faces, just like the males. Players can choose from a large variety (at least two dozen, if I recall correctly) of marking patterns on their faces and bodies, ranging from classic panda spots to ones that look like diagonal scars to just one eye being covered.
The hairstyles are similarly varied, with a lot of short haircuts and Asian-inspired dos. Expect Chun-Li buns, chopsticks in your hair, Ibuki bangs, and more when you load up the character creation screen.
In motion, the model looks great. They're animated just as well as their male counterparts -- that is to say, really well. There's so much expression in their faces when they interact with quest givers, get into combat, emote and more. They're downright Disney in the amount of expression you get while running out in the world. (No, their /dance wasn't hooked up yet.)
If it seems like I'm giving Blizzard lip service here, well, I'm honestly just very happy with this model, especially after female worgen. It looks and plays great and has a lot of customization options, including one the male model just doesn't get at all. Look forward to playing one in the beta!
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. And to all those who said those balls sticking out in the silhouette were "hip bones" you can kiss my furry ass! It was her sash hanging off her hips. Which was one of the theories I suggested. Ok, going to go /golfclap while I pat myself on the back and play the worlds smallest violin for myself.

The in-game face-models provided so far aren't really doing it for me, personally (a heap-load of others certainly seem thrilled). But it's an improvement over the female worgen muzzle, I'll give em that. If anything, Blizzard is certainly improving on female animalistic-humanoid facial-model-building.

Love her... going to get a ton ;)

Whoot!
Though I admit to being a bit disappointed that Worgen didn't get tails, but my monk is so gonna be a female red panda.

The similarity with the female dwarf body was the first thing I noticed, but the face is nicely done, and I love the overall look. My poor female dwarf shaman (who sports a monobrow and lacks a neck) now has an incoming race change to pandaren.

This was exactly my hope for the FemPan!! She is a perfect fit for the race and very accessible for players like myself that take this stuff kinda seriously. ;)
Oh how I WISH that the female worgen could have come out this well!
No... really.. you have NO IDEA! /cry

Cool, a female character with space for internal organs. This is a huge improvement over female worgen.

I'd hit it.

If there's no male red pandas, I hope that we get to follow a quest line that tells the story of how some of the females turned red and grew tails. Hopefully it involves story time with some half-crazy wise old panda monk on top of a very very tall hill.
I am happy with the model and look forward to seeing more when it comes to movement. Question is - what will the dance be? That could be a make or break feature.

Or, red coloration is a lethal recessive gene on the X chromosome (equivalent): Females have 2 X's and can be both red, tailed and alive, but red, tailed males with XY don't survive.

I'm gonna get me some Pandaren tail.

as the Hero of Canton would say, "I'll be in my bunk"
(sorry, couldn't resist. :D )

You people........
I am very happy with this, especially the customization between the two color schemes (though I'll likely go sans tail if I roll one, because that concept art just -hooked- me). So yes, Blizzard has went and made me like (female ones at least) Pandas (Panda hater, here) all by producing one magnificent character model.
For the love of God, Blizzard, don't change anything on her. PLEASE not another Female Worgen. You ruined Worgen girls for me.....they're so damn hideous, I can't bring myself to play one, and I LOVED the Alpha model. Why did you listen to those idiots??
Also, those of you hating on the panda girl because "she looks like a female dwarf", there ain't a damn thing wrong with female dwarves, thank you. Not a damn thing. Now we get two races with some badonkadonk going on back there, and some nice curves....just you know.....one's all furry....

So happy with the lady pandas. So happy. Go Blizz!

My female draeneis disapprove of this model.
Light, must remember the li... a screw it.
I want a panda.

Love love love! I am so excited! She is so cute!
I am also super excited for the possibility of some new barber shop options for my other characters - please o please o please.

Uber kawaii! :3

Red Panda's have been previously categorized as both bears and racoons.
They pretty much nailed the Red Panda from what I can see.

She looks a little too chipmunk- or ewok-like, but otherwise, I like the model. They need to make the cheeks less round or something, and she'll be cute!
(Full disclosure: I am a woman. A 40-year old woman, to put some perspective on where I'm coming from.)
acidbreath Mar 19th 2012 10:35AM
While it looks great on the concept art, on the actual model I still think her face basically looks like this: :3
*sighs deeply*
