Mists of Pandaria: Siege of Orgrimmar

The format of how Blizzard tells its story will change in this expansion, too. Mists of Pandaria itself, the game that comes in the box, will be a full, contained story. The entire arc of Mists of Pandaria will be there when you install the game, before any content patches at all. The content patches will be treated as sequels to that story. We will arrive on Pandaria when we install the game, have our adventures, and then see that story end. When the first patch hits, we will see Pandaria begin to be truly ravaged by our war.
While the steps taking us there are still unknown, Metzen did reveal that the war waged in those patches will reach a massive conclusion: We will lay siege to Orgrimmar to remove the mantle of warchief from Garrosh Hellscream's shoulders. It didn't sound as if it would be an Alliance-only venture, so it seems the new Warchief of the Horde will get a little too Old School Grom for their taste. However, there is a possibility that the Horde will get to deal a similar blow of their own ... Knowing the fate of Garrosh Hellscream, it's possible nobody is safe this expansion.

Why would they even include this x.x Feels like a good part of the story just got spoiled for me, almost at the very start of me going through this information.
I mean, I expected spoilers, but final patch spoilers?
Ah well. At least the expansion will be a full story and these patches are more like sequels. Guess it's less an expansion spoiler and more a future story spoiler, but still >_

Yeah, I had the same thought. I mean I'm really excited for this. I really like it, but why would they tell us now? "Hey guys, beta isn't out yet, here's part of the end of the story!" Wat? But what we're hearing about story arcs and such is EXTREMELY exciting to me. Storystorystory!!! o__O

Garrosh last boss of the expansion ? Horde favoritism once again. GG Metzen GG !
Zach Mar 19th 2012 3:24AM
Exactly how is making the Horde faction leader the final boss (read: evil and must be destroyed) a Horde bias?
Jaq Mar 19th 2012 3:31AM
I suspect it's called "Sarcasm."

Patch 5.x - Cross Faction Raiding?
emberdione Mar 19th 2012 3:19AM
Where are the claims of Horde bias now???
It read like the Horde will be doing the exact same thing, removing Garrosh.
Probably lead by Thrall. Thrall and Varian can function. Varian and Garrosh is just a bloodbath waiting to happen.

I hope this means I can burst into a riveting rendition of "Ding Dong, Garrosh is dead" in guild chat.
Zach Mar 19th 2012 3:22AM
Kind of sucks how they worked so hard to make the guy acceptable as Horde leader for an entire expansion, then turn him into a big baddie like we always thought he was. Ugh.
I hope we get to kill Varian at some point. He's a b***ard too.
Eternauta Mar 19th 2012 6:06AM
Garrosh seemed to grow up a little less.. bloodthirsty in Stonetalon. At least he doesn't kill children.
Then you go to the Twilight Highlands and listen to him talking about conquering the world like a crazy imperialist dictator.
He's a douche, although kinda noble deep inside. I hope we dethrone him without killing him. (Or at least let Varian or Jaina kill him, give that to the Alliance. He shouldn't be killed by Horde hands).

@ Eternauta
I am also wondering if this will be the end of Garrosh or just the end of his time as Warchief. I didn't expect him to last too long, but I really thought there would be some sort of development to his character beyond simply being a brutal warmonger. I still suspect he'll leave a complex legacy, much like his father did. I love the Horde (Thrall's and Cairne's Horde, that is!) and have been troubled by the events in Cata, so I won't be sad to see him go. I was hoping deep down that he'd eventually redeem himself through some sort of heroic sacrifice, though.
The Horde's evolution after these events should be fascinating to watch. I can't wait to see how these events unfold and how they (and the resulting changes) are integrated into the game.
Man, this is a BRUTAL teaser!

Okay, I'll admit, when I saw "We will lay siege to Orgrimmar to remove the mantle of warchief from Garrosh Hellscream's shoulders" I loudly shouted, "YES! #%@& YES!"
I really hope I didn't wake up the neighbors.
Fletcher Mar 19th 2012 3:27AM
I like this.
Blayze Mar 19th 2012 3:27AM
Please no Thrall please no Thrall please no Thrall.
Killik Mar 19th 2012 6:53AM
That would, indeed, be rubbish. Saurfang or a council governing the Horde, I reckon.
Also please no 'Garrosh was insane, but your stabbing his face has cured him - now he is okay to be Warchief again huzzah'.
Vlad Mar 19th 2012 3:29AM
It is faction bias because everything revolves around the Horde. Why help them take down the warchief when you can nuke it all down and be the sole victor ? It would be the best way to act and a great revenge for what the Horde did to Theramore (will do in the pre-patch but you get my ideea).
Divide and Conquer ! Only now you don't have to divide. JUST NUKE ! from a fleet of Skybreakers :D
Possum Mar 19th 2012 4:43AM
So if we kill Varian will it even things out, cause that can be arranged..
Killik Mar 19th 2012 10:19AM
If you think nuking down your enemies' cities is the right thing to do, perhaps you'd be better suited to playing Forsaken.
byronius_prime Mar 19th 2012 12:30PM
I am highly pro-Alliance biased. If it came to that however I would neither condone nor condemn nuclear explosions in Orgrimmar's vicinity. It certainly isn't the right thing to do, however favorable the outcome were for the Alliance.
Killik Mar 19th 2012 1:24PM
@byronius Not an attack, just an observation: that puts you morally slightly south of Garrosh Hellscream. Yikes!
