Mists of Pandaria: Siege of Orgrimmar

The format of how Blizzard tells its story will change in this expansion, too. Mists of Pandaria itself, the game that comes in the box, will be a full, contained story. The entire arc of Mists of Pandaria will be there when you install the game, before any content patches at all. The content patches will be treated as sequels to that story. We will arrive on Pandaria when we install the game, have our adventures, and then see that story end. When the first patch hits, we will see Pandaria begin to be truly ravaged by our war.
While the steps taking us there are still unknown, Metzen did reveal that the war waged in those patches will reach a massive conclusion: We will lay siege to Orgrimmar to remove the mantle of warchief from Garrosh Hellscream's shoulders. It didn't sound as if it would be an Alliance-only venture, so it seems the new Warchief of the Horde will get a little too Old School Grom for their taste. However, there is a possibility that the Horde will get to deal a similar blow of their own ... Knowing the fate of Garrosh Hellscream, it's possible nobody is safe this expansion.

Edit: Also, knew this was coming, as soon as they revealed that his name means Heart of War, what with them saying the villain would be "war itself".

At last! I say that as a Horde! FTH!

One guess for the next to fall might be Jayna.
She could be on the vengeance path because of what they'll do to Theramore, wrecking havoc all over the Horde's territories, and we'll have to deal with her once and for all.
As tragic it might be, it could still very likely happen.
Having to get rid of Wrynn would be too... obvious.

But I wonder if old Vol'jin will get the final killing blow.....remember what vol'jin said. The other nations of the horde don't like Garrosh, with the exception of the Goblins, they don't really care as long as the pay is good.
Garrosh was also supposed to be only Warchief while Thrall was gone. Now that thrall is back maybe he is unwilling to cede the title back to the rightful warchief.
Thrall made some friends with the alliance or at least tried to. Maybe an alliance can be made with "Thrall's horde" and the alliance to overthrow Garrosh and the forces of his horde (how this would work out I do not know, most of the other races hate garrosh as well as some possible internal decent of other orc (for story line purposes)
Or how the siege of org could go is kinda how they talked about pve scenarios but in this case a pve scenario raid. I.e. if you play alliance you have to sack org ulimately killing Garrosh, if your horde you have to defend. an push back the attack meanwhile killing important or semi-important characters or lore figures. Problem with this would be continuity, Which story is the factual lore one. Was Garrosh killed or did the horde sucessfully defend org.
Only time will tell how this would play out. I look forward to Garrosh being dethroned. I semi hope Thrall doesn't become warchief again....I know he's "the most important character in WoW." but he's got a wife and kid on the way now give him a break for awhile. I wouldn't mind seeing him as warchief again but give him awhile hell make another race be warchief for awhile, like vol'jin he's a good guy.

*We will lay siege to Orgrimmar to remove the mantle of warchief from Garrosh Hellscream's shoulders.* This does not mean we will be successful. I remember a similar campaign to remove the baddy who is in charge of Gnomeregan. Remember how that turned out?

A couple weeks ago, WoW Insider asked for e-mails from Alliance players, asking them what Blizzard would have to deliver to serve as a satisfactory rebalancing of the scales following their long history of Horde favoritism. The Siege of Orgrimmar sounds like it will be very close to what I asked for.
I, for one, am looking forward to helping liberate the oppressed Horde rank and file from their fascist overlord. We're going to hop on our flying mounts, land in the warchief's compound at night, and kill Osama ... I mean Garrosh ... so that he can trouble them no more. Horde, you are welcome.

Alliance raids zoning into Orgrimmar will find the Valley of Honor mysteriously deserted, with a path of strewn rose petals leading to Garrosh's door
Killik Mar 19th 2012 7:11AM
Although I am now compelled to complete the image with them pushing the door open to reveal Garrosh enjoying a bubble bath and a glass of red wine. Ick :/

This is standard operating procedure on my server. I don't recall the last time I actually saw any real attempt to stop an alliance raid from killing Garrosh. We always just clear a path and pray the bastard won't respawn.

Am I the only one who absolutely hates the "voting" system for comments? It works fine if someone is being an actual jerk. But if someone says something that is just a difference of opinion or unpopular and then down-voted to the point that they can't be heard it seems unfair. It's like we're not allowed to read both sides and draw our own conclusions. If there is some kind of option to "unhide" these now hidden comments, let me know.
Killik Mar 19th 2012 9:09AM
They're not actually invisible though. It might sting to get downvoted, but I, for one, like to read the dark comments first just so I can disagree more! :D
Teresa Mar 19th 2012 11:50AM
I love the system. Means I can read the important black and blue posts first, and gloss over the rest, saving me time!
Nah, I really have the whole comment system here. The voting just adds extra annoyance. Almost as bad as youtube, where way too many people try too hard to post "sound bites" hoping to get voted to the top.

In old school Org, Thrall's throne room is of significate distance from front and side entrances. In Cata Org, Garrosh throne room is no more than 500 yards from the front door. Coincidence or conspiracy theory? If Alliance is invading Org airborne style, the Matrix-like Blue Dragonflight aura is the perfect beacon of "come get Garrosh". Roll out the red carpet?
tokig0313 Mar 19th 2012 9:23AM
It sounded like neither side would come out of this expansion whole. They talked about war crimes being committed. Sure Garrosh hasn't been the best leader and has done some not so nice things, but I'm guessing someone or something very important to the alliance will be knocked off that will lead both the alliance and the horde to go "woah - not cool!"
I'm very curious to see who will take over for the Horde - is our buddy Thrall going to be stuck once again as Warchief or who is going to be the next up and coming Orc of the day? Does it really even have to be an Orc? Cairne challenged Garrosh - had Cairne actually won - would that have not led to a Tauren Warchief? and who is going to reign in Lady Sylvanas as her war crimes are getting fairly severe too on her rampage to repopulate her race?
Whoever gets the job of Warchief - they're going to have fun trying to sort out the Horde politics.

BAINE FOR WARCHIEF!
Edymnion Mar 19th 2012 10:37AM
Vol'jin for da Warchief, mon!
tokig0313 Mar 19th 2012 10:42AM
I think Baine would be only one of several that could in theory have a solid claim if they're not sticking Thrall back on the throne per say. We also saw Vol'jin actually seek out the assistance of the Alliance in the events around the return of the 5 man ZA/ZG. I'm sure there's others who are notable, but not currently an actual faction leader as well.
Lady Sylvanas I think would turn into another Garrosh. As for the Goblins or Blood Elves, I don't know if they have someone there who would be ready to step up and lead the Horde. (hehe - I can totally envision a goblin leader of the horde and them smacking some lowly orc peon and demanding their box to stand on so everyone can see them).
