The unexpected move is the best - this has all been a set-up for Lor'themar to take over Orgrimmar. Ancient, wise, and former (albeit distant) allies of the alliance, the blood elves have been forgiven by Velen. They could lead the orcs to an armistice with the Alliance.

Sylvanas finds a way to cure *just herself* of the plague of undeath, returns to life as a neutral high elf (she died before the destruction of the Sunwell, therefore she wouldn't be a blood elf!) pulls a complete and total karma houdini, and makes up with Vereesa. And becomes a neutral questgiver in Dalaran.
