I'm gonna be frank. I'm kind of sad to think Garrosh is going down already. I thought his was an interesting character arc, and his serious flaws just made his mantra and beliefs more important to me than most faction leaders, as though he had an actual credo apart from the usual "do good things" mantra.
I'm not surprised, but I am a little disappointed. Hopefully the ending is at least a well-written expose into Garrosh's story, and not the same two-dimensional finishers that previous sympathetic villains have seen.

It would have been more satisfying to watch him grow into the role and responsibilities while having to face the bad decisions he's made in the past. This does feel kinda cheap and whisy washy.

I think if things/times were different we might not have reached this point. If he were Warchief already in Wrath he could grow through Cata and more so through Mists. But to go from one world shaking crisis to ...well whatever horrible he does to warrant his removal, I think it's a logical progression of his story, at least.
To be so terrified of his fathers legacy that he wasted away and didn't do anything to potentially becoming just as bad with his bloodthirst, and even somewhat worse because it's not demon fed bloodthirst, is quite a dramatic progression and a not entirely unforseen arc. Sometimes family lines are just cursed like that in classical literature, I like the theme, personally.
