Mists of Pandaria: Yes, you get another character slot

As initially stated by Bashiok and confirmed by J. Allen Brack, production director of World of Warcraft, you will be getting an 11th character slot for your monk. Players without the Mists of Pandaria expansion attached to their account will be restricted to only 10 characters. You must upgrade to Mists for #11.

Yea, that about sums it up for me as well.....
Never mind having one slot for each class, what about bank alts, and toons on the other faction?! This barely solves anything at all.
I'll just keep my hopes up remembering that one question from a European survey asking if players would be willing to pay for additional slots. One is certainly better than nothing, but I think the majority of players are going to be disappointed with this minimal solution and still want/need more slots.

I have 10 allies on an ally server, and 10 hordies on a horde server. I'm very, very happy about a 11th character slot, as there are 11 classes! There's just no pleasing some people! I'm definitely happy over this pieces of news, more than anything else.

Ask and ye shall recieve. Problem is, people have been asking for the wrong thing.
I don't want 11 char slots on one server, I don't even have a single server with more than 7 toons on it. I want the option to choose what server all 50 of my allotted toons are on. Even if I want all 50 of them to be on the same server, there should be no stupid minor technical issue stopping me.

i am a huge altoholic, and i have 10 85s on my main server, plus leveling toons on my other server
you want more 85s on your main server, suck it up and cut back on bank alts
i am happy i dont have to get a second account or delete one of my alts to have a monk

Agreed - if they are going to make it SO insanely easy to level a character, then they need to do WAY more than that.
I am not going to start over on another server and leave my guild and all my stuff for no reason.
I have already had to delete so many toons to create more. I really can't delete anymore - and what I enjoy most is creating new toons! I love making little baby alts and leveling them up.
I am heartbroken that this is it. I cannot play the game like this and I WANT to play it.

If 11 slots is what we're getting, here's hoping that heirlooms change to officially mean "account bound".
Yes, I know leveling is extremely fast and easy now. But it could always be faster, and even with heirlooms, my toons struggle in the 50 - 58 bracket, and Northrend, and I can't imagine doing that unmodified >.

My thoughts exactly. If they had been talking about giving us one more slot the entire time, I would be completely satisfied, but they started giving us the expectation of removing the server limitation completely and just keeping the 50-character account-wide limitation, so this feels decidedly underwhelming. Well, there go my plans for my army of twinks, and I guess one of my level 85 (soon to be 90) characters will have to stay in a guild by himself with no perks to continue to be my bank alt.

Oh yeah, one other annoying thing about that: I want to have a Pandaren and I want to have a monk, but I didn't want a Pandaren monk. You're going to see those everywhere, and would have preferred to switch it up a little. But now the choice is Pandaren monk or delete one of my other toons so I can roll a Pandaren whatever and a monk of a different race. Sad.

That was my reaction too.
I don't think anybody expected there to not be an extra character slot made for the new class.
I mean, come on.
We're all just soooooooooooooo tired of it.
Some of us really like making alts, and you know what, I don't want to have to go to another server to make horde alts since I'm mainly alliance.
We have a sister horde guild, I'd like to stay on my realm so I can do things there.

I don't think this issue is dead by a long shot. Whether we get more for free or have to pay, upping the limit by one seems bizarre at best and kind of tactical as others also mentioned. I think they may have thrown the 11th slot out to see what people think about it. They admitted to using this tactic with something else on the forums. So let your voices be known people (constructively please) on their forums and who knows. Minimum should have been 12 though, one for Pandaren and one for monk.

Martin, people are bitching about it because Ghostcrawler said one of the solutions they thought of was removing the "10 characters per server/50 per account" limit, and letting people have 50 characters on whatever servers they like.
Then suddenly we get told "one new character slot."
It's a hell of a disappointment after the idea of being able to have up to 40 additional more on a single server per account.
