Dear population:
The emote "XD" and ":D" will only have its true meaning if it's been capitalized correctly.
The emote "xd" and ":d" is akin to a retarded version of "DX" and "D:", respectively. Please, for the sake of my sanity, stop this nonsense. "ecks-dee" isn't the prerequisite for that emote; It's how they actually look.
I find it more difficult to release shift from the semicolon to the letter d, since it's easier to simply hold on to it until the next word.
