I remember when Dks were actually true DKs. You could tank/dps in any spec. All the specs were damn good DPS. Your "stances" was applied to the entire raid, and the stances stacked as long as they were not the same stances (Blood Presence, Frost, Unholy).

You could raise your ally to fight by your side as a ghoul. Howling blast was a 2 tier move and back in the 70+ talent point days you could get howling blast (which hit a lot harder than it does today), and rune tap, or run around with a ghoul, and have many of the blood talents.

I remember when Dks (they can still do this today, but it is much more difficult), could run an entire instance by themselves, and have the most healing, the most damage, and the most damage taken done. I remember when op Dks were actually OP, and not the (Im a bad player, so Dks must be op since they beat me).

I remember when boomkins dropped a few DOTS, a Starfall and a Hurricane, threw Barkskin on and everything died while we chuckled maniacly. Now all I have is some magic mushrooms, a Starfall which is more like throwing rice, a Hurricane that uses nearly all my mana and a slow ping pong game called Eclipse.

We were gods once, now we just look silly. (or maybe we always have ;-) ) Never mind, it lead me to healing ;-)

Ah.... Blood-ghoul specs. The times when I was guildless, Wowheadless, WoWInsiderless, and gearless, and thought I was decent by pulling 1600 DPS in Obsidian Sanctum...

A bit after that (couple content patches, actually), when they were talking about Threat of Thassarian being added to the game, and raging over why it wasn't being given to Blood, which was already falling behind...

Not to forget, soloing Fel Reaver as soon as I hit level 70 on my DK... Warding off incoming Horde at the same time.

I'll miss you, old friend, who ROFLSTOMP'd PVP-geared toons in arena with ridiculous amounts of self-healing. You made me feel like a juggernaut.

Back in Naxx-10 on my DK tank, on a day when we wanted to let a new tank try a spot and I was not yet done leveling my healers to 80...

"I could DPS, but I don't have a DPS spec or gear."

RL: "Its ok, the others do enough DPS, just change presence and try not to pull aggro."

10-mins later... looking at recount, seeing my unholy-tank get top DPS -yet again-...

RL: "I thought you didn't have DPS gear?"

"I don't, I don't even have dual spec yet, and I'm using my tank rotation still because I leveled like this and haven't even learned the DPS rotation yet..."

- Was like a one month period... but there it was for a short time, when you could be -both- top DPS and your raid's top tank, using the same gear, rotation, spec, weapon rune, and glyphs - and only clicking between frost presence or unholy presence to pick which... My toon was even still in half blues... having only just become my second 80.

And it just happened to be the month we were pushing into a new wing of naxx, being a bit behind the curve of progression for other guilds.
