Dragon Soul: Power of the Aspects buff to 15% next week

As always, you can turn the buff off by talking to Lord Afrasastrasz at the beginning of the instance.
Blizzard's full note on the increase is as follows:
During the scheduled server maintenance on the week of March 26, the "Power of the Aspects" spell will grow more powerful, reducing the health and damage dealt of all enemies in the Dragon Soul raid by 15%. This spell will grow progressively stronger over time to reduce the difficulty and make the encounters more accessible. The spell will affect both normal and Heroic difficulties, but it will not affect the Raid Finder difficulty.
Don't need the help of the Dragon Aspects? The spell can be disabled by talking to Lord Afrasastrasz at the beginning of Dragon Soul.
We hope you continue to enjoy Dragon Soul, and that these changes encourage you to attempt a higher difficulty, or just keep pushing to down that next boss.

There are people complaining about this. As if Blizzard didn't announce it was going to be a progressively increasing nerf months ago.
What the hell is wrong with some people?
patquackssb Mar 21st 2012 2:18PM
More like what the hell is wrong with Blizzard. We already have LFR to make raids more accessible. Why does anybody think Heroic raids still need to be nerfed?
Lipstick Mar 21st 2012 2:39PM
Here's a thought... heroic raids are suppose to be hard -- but if you're a middle of the line guild, working on hardmodes, but slamming your face against the same boss week after week -- getting close but never killing him, what happens to your guild?
Do people just say oh, hum.. guess I'm just not cut out to do hm's .. or all I'll ever get is 3/8HM .. think I'll be happy with what I can get?
No!
People leave their guilds. Or the game. Or both.
LFR gives those who never raided at all -- content.
Progressive nerfs to normals give those struggling on the last few bosses in normals a chance to kill DW.
And it gives those working on heroics -- a chance to get FURTHER into heroics.
Quit being so selfish with content.
-----------------
It doesn't hurt you any -- if someone else is able to do the content with a 5% nerf you did at 0% nerf. You still did it first. You got your street cred -- you got your content -- and your mount/title before anyone else did. Kudos for you.
---------------------------
The only people this hurt is those who want to do it "pure" with no nerfs. Well guess what -- you still can. You can turn the buff off. Those who wanted to kill it at 10% nerf but instead get to kill it at 15% nerf because they weren't able to get their stuff together.. well it sucks that it's slightly easier for them. But 5% isn't that much of a difference.. if you were circling the drain at 10% than 15% just gets you over that threshold a little sooner so you can start grinding face on a -new- boss.

"We already have LFR to make raids more accessible. Why does anybody think Heroic raids still need to be nerfed?"
I'm in a guild who's getting fairly close to downing H-Yor'sahj. We'll try to get it this week, but if we don't, it'll be more accessible tomorrow.
Is your argument that our lack of desire to beat our heads against the walls should equate to being completely pleased with killing Yor'sahj on LFR?

Don't worry, Patquack, just lay back and relax. Your elitist "I'm a hardcore raider and that makes me better than all of you casuals" way of life is dying. Shhh... just relax. Just lay back and think of something that makes you happy. Let it wash over you like a wave, just lay back and let it wash over you... there you go.

Complaining about this is like complaining that Kara is too easy now.
Its the nature of WoW: content gets easy when it gets old.
The only difference between this and Kara is that at present, there is nothing newer than this. But... making this easier is just something Blizzard does near the end of an Xpac. Sure I don't recall them doing it near the end of classic - but they had versions of this sort of thing coming out near the ends of BC and Wrath. And now Cata.
Cata is winding down. Its now time for everyone who didn't play through, to get in the door.
Par for the course is over - now we're just clearing the rest of the golfers off the lawn so we can fill it with furries, er, pandas. ;)

I knew this was coming. My goal for my raiders this month was for us to get 3 new HM's down -- Yor'sahj/Ultrax and Hagara. 2/3 is down atm and would like to see the last one fall before the next waves of nerfs go out -- but if it doesn't happen -- oh well. Our goal is to kill HM DW and if we continue to work at it we will down the boss before Mists comes out.
I think sometimes it's pretty easy to put all of this unnecessary pressure on yourself and your guild to perform. In Mists are any of us really going to remember if we killed HM DW at 15% buff or 25% ?? All we'll remember is killing it.
So for those who might find themselves freaking about it .. relax. Enjoy the ride and enjoy your guild.

Amen Lipstick.
the guild i run just did 4/8 reg 10 man last week, and all of us felt accomplished. why? well this is the third week of us trying, and most people have never stepped foot in DS, not even in the RF DS version. our first attempt we only downed 1 boss in about 3 hours, and it was brutal on us. but in the second week we got 2 down, and the third we managed 4! i'm sure the buff had something to do with it, but for a guild who went through a change in leadership with many players either leaving the guild or game completely, i feel we've come a long way and have finally shown our results. our goal isnt getting heroics down because we know we wont have the time to get there(we only raid one night a week), but if we can somehow manage to get to Madness and clear it, then it'll be a sure victory for us, even with the buff :)

I can see striving to down a boss pre-nerf (whether the nerf is toggled or not) and I can even see being upset if that first nerf comes through with little warning, but you have a point. Once a boss is nerfed who cares to what extent? No one is going to boast that they killed Deathwing at a 10% rather than a 15%. On a side note I think it might be a good idea for Blizzard to stagger the nerfs for Normal and Heroic. That way when guilds see Normal get the nerf they know to step up their game before the next patch. It is conceivable to me that there are Heroic-capable guilds that can progress, just very slowly. At any rate, it may cut down on the complaining.
Scuac Mar 21st 2012 2:18PM
Excellent! Just in time for my raid, we are going to start heroic modes next week. This should help make the transition smoother.
scourgeman96 Mar 21st 2012 2:37PM
And this is the sort of the thing I like to hear. Praise for Blizzard, not QQ'ing.
We get enough of that from Anti-Panda-ist-ologers.

"It's the end of WoW. Nerfing hardmodes and buffing players, welfare epics, pokemon. I'm glad I unsub'd. Later, losers."
>.>
Imnick Mar 21st 2012 2:37PM
Why did you put that in quotes?
It looks like you are quoting someone else but nobody said that in this comments section, without any context it just looks like you're trying to stir up trouble yourself :V
Martin Mar 21st 2012 3:47PM
We're all glad you unsubbed also, you elitist prick. :)
Killik Mar 21st 2012 4:12PM
He's joking, although it's a bit too close to comments we'd expect to hear.
Kar On E Mar 21st 2012 2:36PM
I kind of hope that they don't stop doing this, even after they hit 20%. I'd love to go into this with like a 40% or so buff and just see how insanely powerful I feel. At that point, we're kind of playing with Monopoly money getting ready for MoP anyhow.
Lipstick Mar 21st 2012 2:42PM
I think 25-30% should be the cap on nerfs actually. If the fights want to retain any real challenge to them.
Kar On E Mar 21st 2012 3:10PM
True...to retain a challenge, you do need a cap on how far it goes. But that doesn't mean that playing in God mode here and there can't be fun. :)
Twill Mar 21st 2012 3:40PM
40% would be awesome. It'll make soloing later a bit easier.
( I want my monk to get a rogue teir lookalike set!)
