23 images of the female pandaren customization

As goes the community, so too I go -- I was worried about the female pandaren model. The male pandaren looked so great at BlizzCon that I really didn't think Blizzard could surpass it. Personally, I think it works and fits well. Check out our gallery for lots of shots of the female pandaren.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. I really hope there are more than one set of facial features and don't get stuck with female worgen same-face syndrome. Don't get me wrong...I absolutely love the model, but some of the fun is taken away when the most customization we're going to be able to do is different markings.
Different expressions / facial features are important too!

Jennifer Lawrence would beg to differ.

My assumption (and hope) would be yes. There are only two customization fields available at the moment (face markings and fur color) and I can't imagine they're not going to add more before release. Hopefully different facial features will be one of them!

I totally agree...I absolutely love the female Pandaren models and I'm rolling one the moment MoP is released but I still hope their faces aren't stuck in the perma-smile.

With the other customizations not being available, I'm really hoping what's passing for the "Face" option ends up becoming the bottom option (normally used for earrings, horns, etc.). Otherwise, yeah, having the exact same face will be a letdown. :\

@ Sai - I reallyreallyreally hope so!
@Evo - Oh totally. I'll be rolling one regardless (and part of me is so tempted to race-change my main, a draenei, into one. I'll know for sure once I see more of them animations and such in action..and whether or not I like monks enough to allow my main / RP character to transition into being a monk) but the more options, the better!
With different MMOs offering SO MANY choices now to allow people to make their characters their own...it seems weird that Blizz would continue taking a step backward in this regard.

Look at the pictures. There's some decent-ish facial customization.
snarkygoldfish Mar 22nd 2012 1:35PM
@Pyro -- features, not markings. The markings look adorable. But they ALL have the same underlying face.

I posted this later in the thread, but thought I would mention it here-
In the character creation, there are currently two tabs that have yet to be used. So that means two customization options that haven't been implemented yet. I have a feeling those will be faces and features/jewelry!

@Rose - Let's hope so! :D

@snarky - Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but I see at least 2 distinct faces.
This one is a bit thinner and longer:

This one is a bit more rounded and pudgy:

I will admit it may just be a visual illusion based on hair and markings, but the eyes and brows are definitely different comparing the 2 pics I linked above.

Ah crap sorry, that was a fail copy/pasta link by me.
Here is the thinner/longer face:

@Pyro - I think it's all optical illusion from the different markings / angles -- but I see what you're saying. Sort of like how the female worgen face can suddenly look dramatically different depending on what facial markings / colors you choose. (No seriously! Choose a deathknight and the all-black option for one just for giggles...they honestly look a LOT different suddenly!)
:D
(hopefully this posts in the right place!)

I totally agree. This model is awesome, but it really needs something besides just the cutesy face. I particularly want to see one that's more serious, and one that's more sassy.
I'm feeling hopeful about feature customization. Looking at the models, I think I only see three different types of variance: hair style, face markings, and fur color (hair color matches fur, and I remember reading that eye color and tail depend on whether the fur color is giant or red panda based). I'm hoping the last two are face and jewelry.

I fully agree, OP. I think the new model looks great and I'm over the moon happy with her animations, but I hope with all my heart that we'll see an option to customize actual facial features, as we have with most other races.
It's tough to imagine that they wouldn't allow for this, but the Worgen aren't able to change their faces, which is odd. I think a lot of players fear the Pandaren will suffer the same fate. I personally think the male's look perfect as is, but I wouldn't only want the females to have this option.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about: http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r620/pandarenpics/pandaren2.png
That's the male's muzzle copy and pasted on the female model. Nothing else has changed whatsoever. It would be so great if that was a single facial option available at creation. I'd love to see others, too, like an angry face, but even just that simple change would be awesome.
I have my fingers crossed for sure.

@Pyro: It's an optical illusion. These images are cropped so you can't see the customization options on the left and right sides of the screen, but take my word for it.
There are five customization buttons. One for skin color, one for facial markings. The other three are not labeled. One of the unlabeled ones contains a bunch of hairstyles. The other two are currently empty.
Pyromelter Mar 23rd 2012 4:08AM
There are definitely differences in the eyes and eyebrows in the pictures I linked. Maybe not the entire facial structure, but eyes/brows are part of the face.
Mperiolat Mar 22nd 2012 1:05PM
You hear that?
That is the sound of anyone who rolled a female worgan crying bitter tears of jealousy.
Darn shame Blizz had such problems there because this... this is a home run in terms of character design.

I ain't jelly. I'll just delete her. I only got her to level 21. :p

Nope. I have two female worgen (and three female dwarves). I like my two worgen (priest and druid)!
Then again, I am a woman, and don't need my online fantasy characters to look a particular way (and I certainly don't choose them based on how they look!)
