23 images of the female pandaren customization

As goes the community, so too I go -- I was worried about the female pandaren model. The male pandaren looked so great at BlizzCon that I really didn't think Blizzard could surpass it. Personally, I think it works and fits well. Check out our gallery for lots of shots of the female pandaren.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Mists of Pandaria

@Pyro
I know, right? I am more excited for the Pandaren then the Goblins, and I have wanted to play a Goblin for years. The design is just that good.

I am already wondering which of my current kids will be deleted or race changed because I already have 10 characters and I want more than one Panda. XD

I love it! I just wish that lovely, fluffy red-panda tail weren't attached in the wrong place. NO WAY is that tail a continuation of her spine. I'll probably go for a stub tail.
Renata Mar 22nd 2012 1:55PM
The tail is in the wrong place, I agree. But I must say this to Blizz: You give tails to pandas and not worgen? I wish my worgen had a cute curly tail like an Akita (I guess you can give the male Worgen a German Shepherd Dog tail that would be more manly, and have options for cropped tails?)
Shinae Mar 22nd 2012 2:23PM
I can understand why the tail wasn't placed lower, to look like more of a continuation of the spine (as it should be), because then people would be complaining about it looking like it's coming out of the butt.
My biggest complaint about the tail is that it looks like a fox's tail. Red panda tails are striped.

Red Pandas are not ursines - and have HUGE tails. They're about house-cat in size, and used to be classified with racoons, though have been in recent years moved into their own genus. Wikipedia claims there are believed to be only about 10,000 of them left.
But I agree that worgen need tails. The 'OMG furry is weird cause I think its like it was on CSI' crowd shouted too loud for that to happen, even though tauren have had tails since day one.
(I've been around furries in Second Life for years, and most of them are pretty bland folks who have an odd obsession with heavy metal or trance, and the color "neon purple". These WoW races don't have enough purple to appeal to furry-folks. :) )

Pandas have tails?
L_fetcu Mar 22nd 2012 1:19PM
"red pandas" do. :)
"red pandas have [...] reddish-brown fur, a long, shaggy tail, and a waddling gait due to its shorter front legs."
Revynn Mar 22nd 2012 1:19PM
Red Pandas do, which are technically a cousin of the raccoon rather than a bear, but w/e.
Edymnion Mar 22nd 2012 1:29PM
Yeah, think Master Shifu from Kung-Fu Panda, he was supposed to be a Red Panda. They are much, much smaller than the traditional black and white pandas, and like was said, they're more closely related to racoons (and they do look a lot more like one of those).
Revynn Mar 22nd 2012 1:17PM
In general I really like them, but there's a couple minor tweaks that can be made to really perfect them. Namely, the neck is too thin and the nose is too small, giving them a little more of a chipmunk look than I think was intended. There was a fan "fix" on the official forums a couple days ago that made those tweaks and it turned out really nice.

They also plumped up her legs and hips which I can't say I agree with, but w/e.

I could take or leave the adjustments she made to the body. However, the wider muzzle definitely makes that look more like a bear's face; and the thicker neck is more proportionate to the wide head.
snarkygoldfish Mar 23rd 2012 1:52PM
The only part of those adjustments I agree with is the nose and the eyes, and those really do make a huge difference.

NICE. I really like the overall image. Well designed and nice textures and all. it will be a killer.
/sits down in lotus position and thinks of new UD models :D

The females look great but I can't play a female character, I just can't relate to it. I really want to know if the males can be red pandas too the way the females can. Would anyone be able to provide that info? I can't find it anywhere.
HappyTreeDance Mar 22nd 2012 1:20PM
She's really cute.
I likely won't play one (I already have one animal person toon, and that's enough for me) but I'm really pleased with what they did here. I think it fits the whole pandaren look very well, and I'm glad they didn't go with a super skinny model since that would have made absolutely no sense.
That said, WTB those hairstyles for my blood elf.
snarkygoldfish Mar 22nd 2012 1:42PM
Between the Gobbo Hairstyles and these...OH MAN YES. I want them all for my spacegoat.
Pleaaaaaase, Blizz??
Shinae Mar 22nd 2012 2:29PM
The expansion would be seriously lacking if there were no updates to the barber shop options.
Aww, one can never have too many animal-person characters. ;)
Skarlette Mar 22nd 2012 1:25PM
Adorable! I LOVE the hair options.
Crox Mar 22nd 2012 1:29PM
I have seen it stated (er... somewhere) that there is currently only one face option implemented, and that there are lots of options incoming. While I'm excited to see new expressions and facial features, I am amazed at the diversity of looks you can get just by changing the color/pattern on the fur!
I'll be rolling a boy panda for my monk, but from what I've seen of the lady bear I'm pretty sure she'll be my next Enhancement shaman!
... I'll name her Sitarhero. :D
