BlizzCon, SchmizzCon -- I want to go on a Blizzard
World of Warcraft cruise. Did you know that cruise lines do theme cruises for types of stuff like this all the time? They sure do. Also, going on cruises is the best vacation because you don't have to think about
anything.
Jonathan Coulton had a cruise.
Weezer has a cruise.
They did Mac cruises.
WoW should have a cruise, and I'd go in a heartbeat. Let's get this going! Panels, shows, theme nights, and tons of fun with Blizzard employees -- doesn't this sound like an incredible time? I am such a giant nerd ...
Would you go on a
WoW-themed cruise with Blizzard? It could totally happen. Have you ever been on a theme cruise before and have stories to tell? Sound off in the comments.

I dunno, what sort of latency would they have from ship? I've heard horror stories of how much those cruise lines charge for net access, so you'd have to negotiate that up front.

Chances are that they would bring servers with them for specific use on the ship. That would cut latency and they would only have people on the ship access those servers.
Still a WoW Cruise would be freakin' cool. Sign me up, don't care about price. ;)

So we want to take hundreds or thousands of septic gamers and stick them on a floating petri dish. As if regular con flu wasn't bad enough.
Ever seen a cruise ship being disinfected after a trip? Noway, nohow would I want any part of it.

My wife has a crippling fear of both fish and cruise ships. One ticket, please.

*Achievement Earned: I'm on a boat*

Were it that I could afford a ticket? Hell yes! Blizzcon at Sea sounds awesome!
Noyou Mar 22nd 2012 8:06AM
No. The thought of blizzcon at sea sounds neat though.
Steve Mar 22nd 2012 8:49AM
Yeah, not sure I'd do a WoW cruise if it meant I wouldn't be able to play...
knightsamoyed Mar 22nd 2012 8:07AM
lets see, trapped on a boat with 2000 people you don't know, but happen to like the same thing you do? uh no. At least at Blizzcon if the crowds got too much you could leave for a bit.

I don't think its possible to show how excited i am over this idea through text. I would definitely want to be on that ship, i hope it would be available often throughout the year and not just for blizzcon time. Please call carnival (or any other cruise line for that matter) and get this going! Please i beg.

The passenger capacity of those ships is only 2,000-3,000 which would not be nearly enough to support Blizzcon, but a WoW cruise by itself would be a great idea.
Noyou Mar 22nd 2012 8:28AM
There are actually quite a few ships at 4K plus capacity- granted if they did Blizzcon at sea, it would be a little bit more expensive than the $150-200 it is now. That would probably knock down the attendance quite a bit.

But with the BlizzCon attendance at ~25k the past few years, telling 90% of fans that they cannot go (regardless of whether they like water or not) would make for epic tears on the forums.

The idea of a cruise has never appealed to me. It's not because of any phobia it's just that it sounds a bit dull.
So even if it was WoW themed, sorry. No thanks!
Syrco Mar 22nd 2012 8:21AM
I've never been on a cruise before, but if it would be something like BlizzCon just smaller I'd definitely go if I got my hands on a ticket. Good chance to meet up with fellow WoW blogger and Twitter friends from around the world.
Lina Mar 22nd 2012 9:21AM
I would go, it would all depend on the cost and what all would be happening on said cruise but I think it would be pretty awesome.
coville Mar 22nd 2012 8:34AM
I love Cruising and Wow, sounds like a perfect vacation for me. When's the sailing?
We would have to get special internet rates because the cruise lines charge around $2/min for internet.

Never been on a cruise, always wanted to. The wife and I talk about going on one. A WoW/Blizzard cruise would be all the reason I would need to finally go on one.
djdavis1420 Mar 22nd 2012 8:32AM
I'd be there in an instant, even if Internet access was horrible. A few days to relax and talk WoW with the stars of Blizzard, the WoWInsider team, and other WoW fans? Yes please!
xenothaulus Mar 22nd 2012 8:35AM
If I'm going to stay inside and play WoW all day, I would just as soon do it at home. Likewise, if I'm going to be out on the ocean on a ship, I want to do it in a real one, not some floating city.
