Many players seem to be having a difficult time deciphering the intricacies of the revamped Scroll of Resurrection system. Whether that's because the
Scroll of Resurrection Walkthrough support page isn't visible enough or the system is just
that complicated, we don't know. What we
do know is that Blizzard has offered us a pretty cool opportunity -- a Q&A about the Scroll of Resurrection system, with the questions coming from WoW Insider readers.
Are you not sure how the system works? Have you run into an issue that you don't quite understand? Aspects of the system that you think could be improved, perhaps? Drop all of that in the comments below, and we'll forward the most common questions on to Blizzard.

If the receiving account has no character below level 80, will they be able to create a character to boost them to level 80? I have an inactive account with two level 80s, and nothing else so I was wondering if that means if I resurrect the account I cannot get the level 80 boost.
Arrohon Mar 23rd 2012 4:17PM
You choose when to reap the rewards. You can create the character THEN boost him. However, you can't transfer one character and boost another. You can do both, but they must be done to the same character.
Nick Mar 23rd 2012 4:21PM
yes they can.
I ressed my 2nd account, created a level 1 hunter and BOOM! 80!
emberdione Mar 23rd 2012 4:22PM
Yep. I did it with my third inactive account that had no characters on it.
jaymccowan13 Mar 23rd 2012 4:56PM
@Arrohon
Actually it is possible to transfer a different character than the one you boosted.

I'd be wary of doing this since it is an exploit even though it is outside of the game. I recall seeing a blue post saying it was intentional that you couldn't split the boost and xfer, (although I can't find the post again now).

How long gone do they have to be before I can resurrect them? If my friend ran outa money and canceled last week can I send him a free month? And if my other friend stopped playing way back in burning crusade is his account still tracked and respectable?

resurrectable*
That's what you get for auto correcting something without looking at the results =P

Read the FAQ. I believe it does give a date in which the account had to be dead prior to.
emberdione Mar 23rd 2012 4:22PM
Account had to be inactive (not just cancelled) prior to March 4th.

Question.. If you activate this and pay for it til Mists come out.. could you make a lvl 80 monk at the start?
Sarducci Mar 23rd 2012 4:33PM
Its a limited time offer. Unlikely to be active when mists is out.

I was just bummed that they offered this with a bump to Cata instead of a bump to MoP. I mean, if you already have Cata, you lose that perk. Plus if you REALLY want to bring players back, bump them up to the new expansion coming out. Not the one that's dying out and was a disappointment which led some of us to stop playing to begin with.
Arrohon Mar 23rd 2012 4:19PM
That makes so little business sense that I don't even see a reason to explain. Maybe others here are willing (I'll admit that I'm not a nice person)
icepyro Mar 23rd 2012 4:37PM
So.... sign up now to play in a few months? "Come back, but you can't play yet" isn't that great of a message.
I'm just not following what you are asking for. The scroll of resurrection is to get you to come back. Asking you to come back for something you can't get yet just isn't coming across to me and makes it sound like all you really want is to QQ your way into free stuff. It may work in restaurants with badly trained staff, but this is Blizzard we are talking about.

No no, my comment was geared towards the timing of this "enhanced" SoR. As in my case, my account has been dead long enough, so I qualify. However, I had already purchased Cata, so the perk to get upgraded to Cata from whatever pack you are currently at would not apply to me. My comment was more in reference to the fact that it seems geared more towards players who quit before Cata ever came out, versus players who quit after. If Blizz really wants to bring players back, it would be more of an incentive offer the new expansion as a perk, versus the last expansion that came out that a fraction of the players who left might already have. Afterall, I can buy the annual pass and get Diablo III for free, and it's not out yet either. So why couldn't Blizz have done something similar for the SoR with regards to MoP? It was just a thought to share, not a rant or a QQ session. Drama fans, seriously...

Why can I only send someone a scroll of resurrection once? RL friends who I would like to entice into playing again have already had one before so they can't get a new one. This stinks and it would be awesome if it was changed.
hicks Mar 23rd 2012 4:28PM
I've sent four, you only get one a day as far as I can tell. The error message "You are not able to do this right now" or whatever isn't terribly helpful.
pinteresque Mar 23rd 2012 4:39PM
you actually get 2 per day, one through the website and one in-game.
Blackdemon Mar 23rd 2012 6:41PM
People who receive one can only use a scroll once. Otherwise it's an incentive to keep unsubbing to get the next reward from the next promotion.
