Many players seem to be having a difficult time deciphering the intricacies of the revamped Scroll of Resurrection system. Whether that's because the
Scroll of Resurrection Walkthrough support page isn't visible enough or the system is just
that complicated, we don't know. What we
do know is that Blizzard has offered us a pretty cool opportunity -- a Q&A about the Scroll of Resurrection system, with the questions coming from WoW Insider readers.
Are you not sure how the system works? Have you run into an issue that you don't quite understand? Aspects of the system that you think could be improved, perhaps? Drop all of that in the comments below, and we'll forward the most common questions on to Blizzard.

So how does the inactivity status affect your eligibility to receive a scroll? I'm thinking of asking for one of my old guildies to toss a scroll my way soon, but I'm a bit worried because I recently used the 7 free days of game time that blizzard kept offering.
So, I used 7 free days of fame time AFTER march 4th, but I had not actually subscribed since April 2011. Am I screwed for getting the beefed up scroll offers now? Anyone know if I can receive one now?
I suppose I could just ask a guildy to send one and see if it shows up on my account, but I'm still curious if anyone else has tried this under these circumstances.

I recently brought a friend back to wow, she is on the same realm as i am and of course got her level 80 boost. however she was unable to change factions, why is that.
McGintoy Mar 23rd 2012 6:12PM
Was the character she resurrected already the same faction as the character from which you sent the Scroll? That could explain why.
If your character is Alliance, and her resurrected character is Alliance, I'm pretty sure the system will not let her faction-change to Horde since that would defeat its purpose (bringing back a friend to play with you).

I used the scroll to bring my friend's druid to my server. His former troll is now a worgen.
Pym Mar 23rd 2012 4:51PM
The FAQ mentions a bit about what you get with your 80 character, but it doesn't mention professions?
Do my professions get level boosted too?
Arrohon Mar 24th 2012 1:03AM
You can't quest in Hyjal with a sub-80 character. You can kill heroic madness without ever having had a profession. So, the answer is no.

I sent a SoR to my friend, but when he switched to my server he ended up as Horde instead of Alliance. Now I don't think I'll get my sparkle gryphon after all. T_T
SlayerX Mar 23rd 2012 10:16PM
He should be the same faction as you who sent it, id petition if he's not.
Deathknighty Mar 23rd 2012 4:58PM
I recruited a friend some time back, and though various real life issues meant that he wasn't able to keep playing (and never got round to playing again), he's very interested in the SoR and would definitely accept the offer if it was made available to him.
However, the issue is, I'm pretty sure real life in all its tyranny intervened before he ran out of free game time, and as such, he hasn't actually paid any subscription fees, which I believe excludes him from eligibility.
Am I right in that the rules as they are right now make him ineligible, and if so, would it be possible to make a slight alteration to the requirements to allow RaF people who never quite made the jump to playing fully, be it because of real life issues lacklustre low level zones at the time they first played, or just being too intimidated by the perceived distance to the endgame, to have another try at playing the game?

So could you create a second acct and then send a resurrection scroll at it?
SlayerX Mar 23rd 2012 7:06PM
The account would have had to been made and not active prior to march 4th. You can however use the recruit a friend feature and get 90 days of triple exp between both accounts to lvl 80.

Do you get to choose which server your friend has characters on to transfer to? My girlfriend and I are not currently playing, and see this as an easy chance to start over on a new server. Can my friend create a toon on a new server, then have our existing toons transfer to the same server as their new toon?
SlayerX Mar 23rd 2012 7:09PM
If you want to boost existing characters to lvl 80, your friend who is sending out the scrolls should send them from the character on the server you all plan to play on.
for example: If your going to play on uldaman, your friends makes a lvl 1 gnome, then sends out the scrolls. You would be able to boost your existing chars (or new ones) to 80 and transfer to the realm with the lvl 1.

Yes, you can do this. My friends and I did it the other day. One of us had an annual pass, so she created a character on a new server and sent a scroll to me from that character. Then I sent a scroll on to another friend and so on. We all play on the new server together, and all of us brought over a high level toon from our old server.

I don't know if it has been asked, but I have a friend who used to play wow till wrath and quited the game. Suddenly I was surprised to see he was online again and told me he got the 10 day trial of cata. Seeing this as a perfect oportunity to play again with him (I changed server and faction when he stopped playing) I want to know if it will work in this case.

So my friend sends me a Scroll, do I have to start a subscription DURING my 7days in order for her to get the mount? My 7 days will expire before I actually plan to start my subscription back up... if I say, wait a week, will she receive the mount when I resub then?
wowsitemail Mar 23rd 2012 8:06PM
I was wondering something similar. My friend took the resurrection a few days ago. If he waits to come back until a little over a month from now (the beginning of May, when he's less busy with life), do I still get the mount?
Ysonia Mar 24th 2012 8:35AM
Copied over from the battle.net site:
As a reward for inviting your friend back to the game, we are offering a free Spectral Gryphon for Alliance characters or a Spectral Wind Rider for Horde characters, which you’ll receive once your resurrected friend purchases at least 30 days of game time. You’ll find your beautifully translucent reward mount(s) waiting for you in the Battle.net Account Management site, under “Referrals & Rewards -- History/Status.”
This doesn't put any kind of limitation on *when* your friend purchases the 30 days of game time specifically, but I'm guessing the sooner they can re-subscribe, the better.

I used a SOR on my second account. I made a Priest, got her instantly to 80. I then moved the Priest from my second account to my main account, but when she moved, her name was flagged for change. I have seen chatter on the Internet that "This is a known bug", that is not the case.
I just spoke with a Blizz CS who told me 4.3 changed the naming rules for characters. Now, if you delete a name from an account, or in this case transfer a char off the account, the name remains reserved by the old account for 90 Days. The CS explained to me this policy is to protect your character name, even if you delete it, in case you change your mind. The CS noted my account for a Free Name Change in 90 days, when the reservation on the Second Account runs out.

Happened to me too. Pain in the ass...
