The cover to the upcoming
World of Warcraft novel,
Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War, has been revealed, thanks to
Scrolls of Lore. Christie Golden, author of
The Shattering and
Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects (among others), wrote Jaina's story this time around. Of note on the cover is Jaina's white hair, which has been said by Blizzard in the past to indicate extreme power or a physical embodiment of the horror of Theramore's destruction. Could we be seeing Jaina flip out and go all white-haired Super Jaina Z? Is her white hair a mark of the trauma of seeing Theramore destroyed?
Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War is releasing later this year. Check out
Scrolls of Lore for the full cover picture.

Agreed.

I hope she changes, less trustful, more hatred of the world, but doesn't necessarily go "RAAAAAAAH MUST PYROBLAST! EVERYTHING!"
I'm hoping she helps Varian change, and he helps her deal with her revenge... by giving her a chance to exact it.
Strawder Mar 25th 2012 6:47AM
Varian is supposed to be becoming more like his father.
I would venture that if Jaina becomes more like Varian, even a little bit, he will see himself in her, and it would open windows in his mind. He may then take it upon himself to not only deal with his own issues, but help Jaina overcome her loss, anger and grief.

Aw yeah! Jaina finally going battlemage and taking the fight to everyone! #teamjaina

I think I´m about to like Jaina a lot more. :D

The white hair indicates that she is going to be good Willow, not evil Willow.
Of course, that would also imply that the rumored tryst with Varian is likely to be with Tyrande, instead.
Ullaana Mar 23rd 2012 11:02PM
Um, Oz before Tara.
clundgren Mar 23rd 2012 11:57PM
Oz was pre-witch. Once she got her Goddess on, it was all comfortable shoes and earth tones.
And Tyrande has to be looking for a change from that deadbeat husband of hers. He's clearly more into Thrall.

That's what she gets for getting on a boat with Anduin Groo.

"All I ever wanted was to breath oxygen."
"Shhh...I'm trying to not drown here."
Sorry. I had to.

"I hate resorting to holding my breath."
"The currents of Theramore are in upheaval."
"I'm no Olympic swimmer!"
:P

Congrats Alliance!
You'll soon be getting your very own Sylvanas! Just like the lovely Banshee Queen, she comes fully equipped with kingdom army mobilization and a hint of hatred for the unfair world! Enjoy!
In all seriousness though, I'm a fan of Sylvanas and even if Jaina gets some of the world hating crazy in her, it would still be an improvement for major female lore characters on the Alliance side to rile Jaina up a bit. Alliance has been needing a tough as nails female leader and clearly Tyrande isn't up to the task with Malfurion awake and about, which I know it has been harped on to death before but I always find sad considering her role in WC3.

Super Jaina Z? No.
She just cast GIGA SLAVE. :)
Jaq Mar 23rd 2012 11:55PM
You win the internets, sir.
Come to think of it, Lina Inverse in WoW would actually be quite terrifying.
Evil Midnight Lurker Mar 24th 2012 12:03AM
Thanks :)
Hm. Lina would be a weird hybrid of a Warlock (since Black Magic is drawn from demon/Mazoku lords) and a Mage (since most of her spells LOOK like the kind of things D&D wizards cast...)

I think with her boyfriend (Arthas) dead and how her "possible" other lover (Thrall) married and about to be a father. This could be enough for her to get angry even though I did enjoy her calmer side in Warcraft 3 I think this drive to possible madness/power could bring alot of possibilities in the future where we could see more of her in WoW and that would be cool.

Wow, that's a hardcore picture of Jaina. It looks like her world is getting destroyed, her hair is getting bleached white from the shock of it, and she's practically drowning. From what I've heard, she's quite a bit more violent in this new state as well ... wait, what does this remind me of?

This is what happens:
'When the black waters of The Great Sea poured into the palace, she created a magical shield that would protect her and the remaining Theramore survivors from drowning. It was at that time that a voice in her head whispered of an escape:
'"There is a way...there is a way...you will become more than you ever were...more than you ever were...we can help...we can help...You will be more than you have ever been...and when the time comes, for what we grant you...you will serve us well..."
'Her spell collapsed but as the sea filled her lungs she did not drown. She instead expanded with hate and rage, becoming...'

She's going for brunch with Queen Azshara. The two ladies sure have a lot to chitchat.
