Mists of Pandaria Beta: New Ragefire Chasm video
Four new bosses now reside in Ragefire Chasm, including:
- Adarogg, a nasty flamehound that has eaten his captors
- Dark Shaman Koranthal, who is performing a creepy ritual
- Slagmaw, who is Magmaw, but not; name potentially not final
- Lava Guard Gordoth, a caged experiment that breaks out just as you arrive
What secrets does this new Ragefire Chasm hold? Hopefully, the answer is just around the corner as we dig deeper into the Mists of Pandaria beta. Stay tuned, and check out the video of some of the new changes to the Ragefire Chasm instance above.
My personal pet theory is that the Dark Shaman (from the Twilight's Hammer cult) and Burning Blade cultists have been doing some Nefarian-esque experiments beneath Orgrimmar and found some sort of discovery to enhance the ability of orcish soldiers, resembling the Shadow Council's forced aging of children. After finding out about these experiments, Garrosh might be desperate enough to use it. Maybe he even created it. What about former Twilight's Hammer cultists?!
Whatever it is, it's under Orgrimmar -- and it's bad. Stay tuned.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Mists of Pandaria

The thing to do would have been to take those quests and find out what the text is when you turn them in. ;)

The new RFC looks interesting, to say the least. The concept of Dark Shaman seems interesting, and the removal of Taragaman the Hungerer suggests that Garrosh's arc might be a bit different than "welp, I'm in trouble, time to hang out with the Burning Legion!" And "Oggleflint made me legitimately LOL. Interesting little level 10 dungeon.
As an aside-am I the only one, when watching a video of WoW game play, who attempts to hit keys as if YOU were playing the game. I caught myself at least twice, watching this video, getting ready to hit the Esc key to exit the map. Is this game that damn ingrained on my fingers?

Wow may be ingrained on my fingers, but what I want to type isn't. That should have read "Oggleflint " legitimately made me LOL. /facepalm.

I don't hit keys, but there are times I want to click on loot links and i'm like... oh damn that's right I can't click on that loot :P.
The concept of dark shaman confuses me though. In orc lore, a shaman who would dive into fel and/or shadow magic became... a warlock. In fact, that's how warlocks came to be. Gul'Dan was a shaman, then got all burning legion tainty and became a warlock, and the shadow council of warlocks were all former shaman.
So that's a bit confusing, hope there is some lore to explain why there are dark shaman instead of just evil warlocks.

I don't click things, but I often try to mouseover stuff to look at the buffs and debuffs. I also catch myself trying to change the camera angles. I wish WoW had the ability to record whole matches and export them so other people could watch them in some sort of blizzard client where you COULD look at those things. (whine) Other games doooooo eeeet.... (/whine)

I find myself trying to right click on the screen and pan the camera to get a better view of something.
That's just in general because I play WoW too much, though. I do it when I'm watching DVDs too.

You sir, officially are my favorite person to watch do videos, I love the commentary.

Calling it now. The fight against Garrosh takes place in RFC.
Locke Scythe Mar 23rd 2012 1:23PM
so is this going to be one of the new heroics?
icepyro Mar 23rd 2012 2:10PM
It's not been announced as such and honestly, if it is, it needs to be a touch longer. I do foresee the "Siege of Orgrimmar" raid using this area though.

Awesome! I've wanted a revamp of RFC for a while. I guess I was wrong then back when I said I didn't think they'd touch RFC.
I now do believe Garrosh's final battle will be down there as well. I'm going to guess the entire Siege of Orgrimmar will lead from the gates of Orgrimmar all the way into RFC.

For anyone wondering about the quest text, I saw it in another video. It's mostly unimportant, but there is one line at the end with pretty strong implications about Garrosh's character at this point: one of the quest givers mentions that this is how Garrosh rewards failure. Garrosh isn't having you kill the dark shamans because of their experiments, he's having you kill them because THEY FAILED AT IT. Which means he's probably already started his corruption, but he's been surprisingly good at keeping it a secret.

I don't see anything particularly *demonic* in the video - the closest thing are those purple rocks swirling around, and while shadow energy is closely related to demons, it's not a one-to-one relationship (shadow priests use it as well, for example). It could be that while Garrosh isn't going to trust anyone suggesting the Horde turn to demonic powers again, he's not against someone trying to do some elemental infusions to get some added oomph. That would provide an avenue for corruption without having him precisely repeat his father's mistake - elementals are associated with shamans, and shamans are OK, right?
Of course, the big flaw there is that the world was just being torn apart by elemental forces. Then again, Intellect is generally not the primary stat a Warrior goes for when gearing.
