Mists of Pandaria Beta: New warlock pets

It should be noted that the sizes might be off; it's not an uncommon beta bug to have pet sizes be strange at first. No idea if this is intentional, though, so take the size with a grain of salt.
The new warlock pets are:
- Fel Imp (replaces the Imp when talented)
- Wrathguard (replaces the Felguard when talented)
- Voidlord (replaces the Void Walker when talented)
- Shivarra(replaces the Succubus when talented)
- Observer (replaces the Felhound when talented)
- Abyssal (replaces the Infernal when talented)
- Terrorguard (replaces the Doomguard when talented)
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Warlock, Mists of Pandaria

The pet sizes are quite horribly bugged. Logged on my hunter the other day and pulled out my Spirit Owl... frenzied flapping at that size going on inside an enclosed space would get you instantly removed from any group.
Is nice to see the Infernal upgraded though - just makes me hope that there will be more cause to use it?

It's fun when you combine the size bug with the funky summon/dismissing bug. Summon your hunter's pet T-Rex, summon a companion pet - repeat til infinity and rule the world with your army of real size T-Rexes.

Finaly!!! After we get the long overdue diferentiation between warlocks (mainly destruuction) and other clases (NO, destruction warlocks are NOT fire mages with a pet!), not we get to see some diferences between warlocks as well.
The pets look good, and I hope they do good as well.
Thank you blizzard.

...Wait. So these are upgrades from current Warlock pets? ...Meaning you HAVE to use one if you want to remain competitive in DPS?
Well, change is nice for the moment, I suppose. Though choice would have been better.
I really wish they'd simply let 'Locks "bind" demons the same way hunters tame pets. ...That way we could pick from a wide variety of in-game skins, and recolors.
locken Mar 23rd 2012 9:51AM
No, this is from the level 75 talent Grimoire of Supremacy. Choose a different talent at that level if you don't like them. In any case, no one has any real idea on numbers yet, so don't get upset over nothing.
Miranda Kali Mar 23rd 2012 10:04AM
@ Locken - Ahh.. That's good to know. So we can choose between old models, and new.
Still, though... It seems that the idea of having a wide variety of choices in your minion (pet) is a feature they want to remain exclusively with hunters.
(a dozen models is nice, but not what I'd call a "wide variety". ...Guess I'm just picky)

O...M...G...! These pics make me very happy that I stuck with my warlock! Am I right to assume that these are just the upgraded forms of the demons we already have, through the Grimoire of Supremacy talent?, as in:
Imp ---> Fel Imp
Voidwalker ---> Voidlord
Succubus ---> Shivarra
Felhound --->Observer
Infernal ---> Abyssal
Felguard ---> Terrorguard
jrussellp.moose Mar 23rd 2012 9:55AM
close.
Felguard ---> Wrathguard
Doomguard --> Terrorguard
Utakata Mar 23rd 2012 12:13PM
Silly question though:
I presume there will be no spell and ability changes from the original pet counterpart - meaning, they'll remain the same?
Covil Mar 23rd 2012 2:22PM
They have the same abilities, but more powerful. For example the Shivara can seduce and then fight, it's not channeled. And the Observer has spell steal, instead of dispel.
Noyou Mar 23rd 2012 3:54PM
The Shivara better be able to do more- she has 4 extra arms! Excuse me Miss, when you are done dispatching that rogue there, might I get a sammitch? That an the observer are the two I am most wanting to try out.
Utakata Mar 23rd 2012 6:20PM
Thanks for the clarification Covil. And lol @ Noyou. :)
EVOXPISCES Mar 23rd 2012 8:18PM
The observer looks awesome IMO. Being a destro lock I hope I'm not feeling restricted to having to use the imp again in MoP. Not that I don't like the imp, but the observer and shivarra look so cool!
Joakim Mar 23rd 2012 9:42AM
So ... the dissent among the armies of the Burning LEgion is spreading. What once was isolated incidents of low level demons and imp willingly offering a hand to Azeroths more colorful persona has spread.
If even Shivarras goes AWOL, Sargeras days are numbered.
Now, if only Velen would lift the ban on demonology and allow intrepid explorers av dark arts and blue skin to join forces with the crude humans or bloodthirsty orcs ... well, imagien a draenei warlock with a shivarra.
It's like, blues. Baby.
Daedalus Mar 23rd 2012 10:30AM
I wouldn't worry about the Burning Legion's cohesiveness just yet. See those chains around the Terrorguard? That's not just decoration.
It's part of the lore of the warlock class that our pets aren't really helping us willingly; we summon them and bind them to our will. Hell, when I first started playing, your doomguard could go rogue and start attacking your party if you didn't keep him controlled properly.
Edymnion Mar 23rd 2012 3:04PM
Yeah, back in "ye olden days" before you could learn to summon a demon, you had quests to gather reagents for a summoning spell to pull one out of the nether that you then had to beat down in combat in order to force it into being your slave.
Now you just get them for free, which kind of sucks.
baldcore Mar 23rd 2012 9:43AM
Well the dimensions so far seem some what correct though I expected the fel imp and voidlord to be a little taller. As for the rest, they seem to measure up nicely and seem to be suitable upgrades. What I wonder is will they behave like their cousins ie fel imp melee, void lord using void tether to increase power, observer use eye beam for channeled attack, shivarra use mind sear like dot, wrathguard use mini bloodlust to increase attack speed, abyssal use rain of fire, or terrorguard use melee as opposed to the range attacks of the doomguard. This better not be just a change of models but same attacks cause that would really suck.
L_fetcu Mar 23rd 2012 9:53AM
If i remember correctly the wording of the talent says that they will do increase dmg (20% I think). and since it is a talent it can't be just for visuals.
but I agree, the new spells would be nice for our array of pets!
/sit's down and imagines a demo lock with a Terrorguard beside him, summoning a Abyssal to aoe a pack of mobs that he is tanking :)))
philip.walpole Mar 23rd 2012 10:18AM
The increase in damage now sits at 10% and the upgraded demons have more powerful spells.
tgrhwke Mar 23rd 2012 9:44AM
Just a minor correction. This is one of the level 75 talent choices.
