I look forward to rolling a Bear, be it Panda or otherwise. After all, Bears are soulless, godless, rampaging killing machines. Maybe I'll RP a Fury Warrior with Fist weapons. In celebration of these bloodthirsty symbols of evil, a quiz for The Queue readers. Try to identify the following bears from pop culture (and try not to Google-cheat!):1 - Forest ranger2 - Affable winter-time pop soda drinkers (and football fans)3 - Taught children their alphabet, told stories, etc.4 - Food thief5 - Armored bear6 - Missing a button7 - Oh, bother.8 - An inordinate attraction to soft laundry9 - An antennae on my head and a purse in my hand10 - Cloudsurfer11 - From darkest Peru12 - Kung-Fu master13 - PilotPlease understand that this is not a bear endorsement. The aforementioned are all participants in a clever, long-term marketing campaign by bear sympathizers. Playing a bear in a game is more like playing an assassin or pirate: You'd never actually want to be one in real life, it's just fun to pretend. All God's creatures have a soul; except bears. Bears are actually Satan's children.Enjoy the quiz; I'll let you know when someone gets them all correct.

It makes me sad that everyone automatically thinks Po when thinking of Kung fu master instead of Genma Saotome.
3-23-2012 @ 11:58AM
@VioletArrows:Well, naturally. SaotomeRyu is a form of kenpo, which is more karate than kung fu, what with the Okinawan origin.
3-23-2012 @ 12:35PM
What? No Pedobear?
3-23-2012 @ 1:45PM
The first bear I thought of when I heard of Pandaria was Genma. ^^I have never seen Kung-Fu Panda, but I rocked the hell out of Ranma !/2 manga and anime!
3-23-2012 @ 2:48PM
I did manage to get most of them. I knew Teddy Ruxbin (had one as akid) but I absolutely couldn't remember his name until I saw the otherresponses. I didn't know 9 or 11, though. 9 because I never did paymuch attention to Paddington, and 11 because... well... I STILL don'tknow what it is! It better not have been Tinky Winky, because I don'tknow what those things are, but they're not bears.@ VioletArrowsI'll admit, the first thing that came to mind for me was Po fromKung-fu Panda. But keep in mind that Kung-fu Panda is far more recentthan Ranma 1/2 (and, in fact, has a fairly new series going on now)and it was better publicized to the general public than mostanimes/manga are. (Since they generally get more focused advertisingto hit the groups they know like anime.) But, if it makes you feel better, at least some of us knew exactly whoyou meant when you mentioned it. =)[NOTE] Attempt to post this number TWO, since the comment system randomly decided to try and force me to "confirm my email" despite having put in my password. Stupid comment system....

*Official Answer Key*1 - Forest ranger *Smokey the Bear*2 - Affable winter-time pop soda drinkers (and football fans) *The Coca-Cola Polar Bears3 - Taught children their alphabet, told stories, etc. *Teddy Ruxpin*4 - Food thief *Yogi Bear*5 - Armored bear *Iorek Byrnison*6 - Missing a button *Corduroy*7 - Oh, bother. *Winnie the Pooh, Pooh Bear, etc.*8 - An inordinate attraction to soft laundry *Snuggle the Fabric Softener Bear*9 - An antennae on my head and a purse in my hand *Tinkie Winkie (Teletubby - See below)*10 - Cloudsurfer *Kit Cloudkicker*11 - From darkest Peru *Paddington Bear ("Real" name unknown)*12 - Kung-Fu master *Po*13 - Pilot *Baloo, or Baloo von Bruinwald XIII*Many, many excellent guesses, and my kids would have been ashamed that I omitted The Berenstein Bears. My inner Otaku also regrets the omission of a Ranma 1/2 reference.Regarding Tinkie Winkie; though technically we do not know what a Teletubby is, we can certainly agree that they are rotund, vaguely bear-like in appearance, soulless, evil, and probably the spawn of Satan.Regardless, I hope you have all enjoyed this random quiz.Happy gaming.
