Breakfast Topic: Will your pandaren fit into your character naming convention?

I've written about my naming conventions before, using the prefix Gen- or Genz- for most of my characters because of my own affinity for my middle name. Every character but two fit this mold and use some sort of variation on the theme. Thankfully, my pandaren monk easily fits into the Asian-themed culture.
The pandaren monk that I made at BlizzCon was named Genzji, and I liked it, so I'm happy to use the name come live. Will your pandaren characters fit within a predetermined and established naming convention? Or will you take this opportunity to break the character-naming mold?

Hi native gaelic speaker here from Ireland and just wanted to correct some of your words!
Óir is gold.
Daoine means people.
Dubhlann means black pool/lake and is the old old name for the capital of Ireland -Dublin, the modern Irish name is Baile Átha Cliath.
Airh is now aire and means shepard but it can also be used as the verb 'to take care of' i.e i took care of my sick Worgen friend during the full moon = thug mé aire do mo tinn chara worgen nuair a bhí an geallach lán.
Hope this clears stuff up for you :)

I don't have a set pattern for naming my toons, I just go with whatever sounds and looks right. As for my monk, a spelling variation, Kwichangkain from an old TV series.

I have the feeling that there will be a LOT of names referencing the Kung Fu series. At least among people who remember it.
delta7525 Mar 24th 2012 8:48AM
My names normally start with Val but my brother and I reserved the names Niin and Jaa for our monks :)

I try to be unique with my names but keep them serious when necessary.
Except this xpak.
Pandalicious is too good to pass up!

I don't have any particular naming conventions, although I am fond of Y names. ;) I usually just make a character and see what name strikes my fancy. I'll have to see what my panda looks like before I can give her a name, basically. I like to pick something feminine and in keeping with the naming conventions of their particular race. I usually try to make something unconventional and unique by slightly tweaking another feminine name.

I will not have a Pandaren, just like I don't have a worgen, or a goblin.
murmaiderxx Mar 24th 2012 9:25AM
I don't know why I'm being downvoted for voicing that I won't have a race. I don't have any bias for either, I'm just saying I won't have a pandaren. I will have a monk, but they won't be pandaren.

Probably because the topic relates to what you will name your panderen. Seeing as you aren't making one your comment is irrelevant and awkward in the context.
downesy93 Mar 24th 2012 9:53AM
BTW, that wasn't meant to be snarky.

My pandaren will probably fit the mold. I'm hoping for either Pundaren or Pandaring. I like pun names. Maybe I'll go with "Shanksy" for my pandaren rogue!

I don't really have a naming convention, at least not a consistent one. Sadly, for half of my tabletop gaming sessions, we didn't even bother to use names for our characters, at least not seriously. Bob The Fighter, Drizzle (drow twf ranger ofc), and Okay Fine I'll Play The Cleric This Time.
In WoW, my names are all over the place. From a variation on my long-held gaming handle Mycroft, Kegtotems for my dwarf shaman, to Beefprotpie for my tauren tankadin. Lately I've been naming new toons after in-game herbs, like Bloodthistle and Heartblossom. If it didn't cost so much money I'd try to rename all my toons with this scheme.
On another note, Chingchingpow is one letter too big from being a usable pandaren hunter name.

I've had Pandonk place held since blizzcon... That'll be my Panda Monk... I did the same with my goblin warlock... Goblock... That's my naming style as of recently
Andre Mar 24th 2012 9:27AM
My main, who I'll be race-changing into a Pandaren, has been named Po for years!
Ullaana Mar 24th 2012 9:39AM
@Andre,
I loved Master Po as portrayed by Keye Luke. Great choice.

I've always leaned towards douple entendre...my Pandaren Monk will be "incensed"
DarkFinch Mar 24th 2012 8:30PM
My toons are named after Phish songs or characters from the Phish-verse, including Weekapaugg, Milliegrace, and Piper. So naming my new Panda Monk shouldn't be too bad.

You and hundreds of thousands of other players. Get over it.

I don't have any conventions, other than "Doesn't sound like a 13 year old thought it up." So my characters all have "real names" that fit their race. For a pandaren, I will probably look through Chinese history and choose a name similar to one of those. Thus Xiang, Yuefei, Shiji, Banchao... It's not hard to think up something appropriate that isn't eye-offending, like the thousands of pandarens named Jackblack or Kunngfuu or Chingchong or Nihaogold we're going to see.
