Mists of Pandaria Beta: Where to find wild pets in the Eastern Kingdoms

Some pets are unique to zones, such as the Adder in the Blasted Lands or the Swamp Moth found in the Swamp of Sorrows. Some pets even have a localized spawn location, like the Tiny Harvester in Westfall over by Fulbrow's Pumpkin Farm. Specialized spawn locations for very rare pets? I'm intrigued.
Hit up the Warcraft Pets forums for a full list of wild pets that they've found so far. If you're fortunate enough to be in beta, lend a hand with their list.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Mists of Pandaria

Life can be a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It’s never easy when there’s so much on the line. But you and I can make a difference. There’s a mission just for you and me.

Just had a thought: when someone is in a pet battle with something in the wild, will they just appear standing there to everyone else? If so, then rogues should be ecstatic for Mists.

They will most likely phase out. Battles against other (random) players may even utilize the scenario (a.k.a. mini-dungeon) mechanic, effectively giving you a loading screen even.

You walk through tall grass, obviously.

I choose you mini thor!!

You know the critters with weapons in Mulgore? Will they be able to be caught and used and will their weapons/armor still be applicable? That would be very cool.
Nathanyel Mar 26th 2012 8:27PM
That is an excellent question.

The hunter in me says....no. Everything cool about that unique pet that you want will disappear once you've tamed it unless its a rare.
...I'm not bitter, shut up.

Dear god do I want sharp weapon-wielding fluffy animals on my poke-squad.
This MUST happen.

Luotian, there was actually a brief time in the beginning of Cata where you could cause a bug as you tamed a pet so it would keep cool effects on it. For the most part it involved the pet keeping any buff/debuffs/etc when it was tamed. So if a plagued bear has the little green skulls floating around it it would still have that permanently when you tamed it. The downside to this is that almost all of these would go back to normal the first time the pet died. No more little green skulls floating around your pet. But there were five exceptions that would stay cool forever, even through death. The burning boars from the Tauren starting area would stay on fire forever. There was some ghostly owl; I forget from where. The oil covered wolves (I have one. His name is BP.) and birds from Borean Tundra would stay oily. And my favorite: There's a quest in Eastern Plaguelands to kill a ghostly wolf with a sword sticking out of its face. It stayed as is. To this day, I have a ghostly wolf with a sword in its face, and when people ask about it, I just tell them he had an accident trying to shave like daddy.

I read that in the MoP Beta a player can listen to Old Man Pandaren’s Critter Catching Tutorial in The Jade Forest. Immediately afterward, if player flies to Zandalar Isle and swims on the east coast a tamable MISSINGNO. shows up. CONFIRM?!?!??!?

"...some wild pets that eventually will be able to be fought and tamed in turn-based battles similar to a popular game we have all had contact with in the past."
Um, "we" have not all had contact with said game :( Not sure where I was. Can't blame it on the 60's :)

Hillsbrad Foothills - Infested Bear Cub
... *shudder*
I'm surprised they'd make a companion out of that, given the sheer amount of squicky complaints about the original model (at least I'm assuming I'm thinking of the right model, given the name).
I really hope I don't end up seeing tiny pitiful bears with spider eggs growing on their asses all over Org... but I have a feeling that I just might. -_-
