Mists of Pandaria: Female pandaren emotes and animation
Wondering what the pandaren female models look like in action? Here's a video of the emotes available so far, as well as some of the female pandaren animations. It's tough to imagine how the female pandaren move just by looking at a still image, but the video should give you a better idea of just how polished and fluid this model is.
Mists is still in beta, and not all emotes are available at this time. Some of the female vocals and customization options aren't in place yet, either. Both of these should come with time. For now, despite missing a few emotes, the model is looking pretty finished overall, and I have to say I'm impressed with how amazing they look and act.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!

I know, right? I have heard so many people saying they weren't interested... until they saw the female panda. Blizz did a really good job of giving her mass appeal.
She is big enough to tear down most people, adorable enough to make even the hardest of hearts melt, and her animations are just plain awesome. I was only going to roll on to try one out, then when I saw the female I decided to roll two, and now... yeah.
/sighs and rolls three name saves

MMO Champion has a video of the male animations too somewhere.

Well, great video but i would like to point out to a technical error, when you said the "physics" involved, there are not really any physics at work with the animations in wow since they are not procedural animation. The animation on the new chars is great so it does almost look like they are dynamic, but they did "record" them before so it always plays out the same way. But yeah i'm sure you knew that :P

Okay, I hated pandas, but now I'm sold. I am going to roll so many lady pandas it is not funny.

I'm finding the female pandaren to be way too genki-cutesy, but I really love the fluidity and expressiveness of both sexes' animations. Can't wait to see the revamped old-race models.

I agree that some of her emotes definitely look stereotypically cute, but in some of the angrier emotes...good god, I just heard my Chinese grandmother yelling at me in my head.

Great video, Anne :) I'd been watching other streams & couldn't really put a finger on what had changed so much, but seeing the slight details like the eyes and hair really does add a lot of personality. I may not have been sold on the pandarens as a playable race up until the last few weeks (whereas I was sold on Pandaria as a questing zone as soon as Blizzcon showed the video feature), but now I want to clear out a bunch of old alts & try new classes just to have a small army of pandarens :D
On a side note, raise of hands for female panda tanks? I'm looking forward to my lady monk leading the charge, oh yessss.

*raises hands*
Ayup. I have a warrior and monk planned (also a hunter, but they can't tank in raids, because then other classes get jealous. ;) ). I will definitely tank like crazy on my monk, depending on how much I like tanking on a Monk. Haven't played it out yet, you see. *nods*

Anne Stickney should voice female Pandaren.
EVOXPISCES Mar 26th 2012 2:47PM
I don't think there's enough room in WoW for so much awesomeness :)
Strawder Mar 26th 2012 11:52AM
Anne, you have a great voice, very given to video, narration or radio.
Secondly. Animated hair. Wait till you see this in Stormwind alongside your 2001 model Human. People will be rioting for new models at that point.
Ylspeth Mar 26th 2012 11:01PM
Now that... that is just adorable.
Here I was thinking I was done creating female toons then this comes out. You are cruel, Blizzard. Cruel, I tell you!
:)

That female panda's hair has more animation in it than a female tauren's entire body. How Blizzard thinks this isn't worth fixing is beyond me.
gogogadgetkat Mar 26th 2012 12:19PM
Blizzard absolutely thinks the old models are worth fixing. They are totally committed to updating old models and mentioned during the MoP press event that dwarves would probably be in a good, updated place by the time MoP releases. However, they are taking their time with the updates in order to ensure that the old models come out looking as great as the Pandaren do. Plus, with all of the amazing content slated to come out with MoP, Blizz wanted to make sure they finished as much as possible before starting the intensive process of fixing old models. Be patient and give it some time. If the playerbase allows Blizz to take their time in fixing our models, I'm sure the end result will be much better than if they had rushed to get it done before MoP.

Seven and a half years is way past "patient." :)
Edymnion Mar 26th 2012 1:12PM
Yeah, and don't forget its not just the character models that have to be updated. Armor models have to be updated as well. Can't go around having a nicely updated fresh new body if the shoulders end up being the wrong shape and floating up above the torso, now can we?
Jaq Mar 26th 2012 11:58AM
Man, the female pandaren looks AMAZING. My monk may just be the female red panda one based on how cool they look already.
RetPallyJil Mar 26th 2012 12:46PM
I want *MY* hair to move when I emote :(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
Bynde Mar 26th 2012 12:51PM
Ah...so you can choose a Red Panda and get a long tail as opposed to a Giant Panda where they have little bunny tails. Ok, that's cool.
DeadeyeC Mar 26th 2012 2:45PM
I'll be honest, I will be SHOCKED if we don't see new models for the older races except for Goblins and Worgen. They will look SILLY in MoP compared to Pandaren if they don't. Blizz, if you're cooking it up right now, BRAVO. BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO. It'll be nice not to look at stiff characters!
