Well, let's look on the bright side and remember that this is beta and not even GC's word is gospel. He says this is their intent now, but that doesn't mean it can't change.
I suggest that those with access to the beta continue to playtest Demo Tanking and to report on it to the community and on the official forums. Demo Tanking seemed to be universally loved by all the warlocks that I've seen and heard from, and just because they say that they don't intend to follow through with it at this particular moment in time doesn't mean that they won't move to do it if people continue to show support and desire to make it work.
After all, Flight in the Old World was "never going to happen," among other things.
Stay Meta, my friends.

Well said!
You're absolutely right that the developers wildly shift from one perspective to another all the time (I'm literally quoting GC's interview with Wowhead here- you should check it out, if you haven't. He frequently admits mistakes on the dev team's behalf, which I find very admirable). It's definitely not out of the question to see this topic pop up in the future considering the positive response - though, I think some of that is because the beta mechanics have the Meta-tank completely overpowered.
It's still gonna be an awesome niche glyph that provides Demo locks some interesting opportunities to have fun while exploring what it would take to make a tank spec happen down the line.

This is true; I'm just annoyed by the way his explanation doesn't seem to mesh with what the glyph is and does.
That said, getting pissy at GC and the dev team isn't likely to convince them to listen to my opinion on the whole thing, while being enthusiastic about the glyph and showing what it can do are far more likely to move events in the way I'd like them to go.

As a (sometimes) affliction 'lock I must say that this was a very well put together statement. I like it... a lot.
I agree whole-heartedly that I think that Warlock Tanking could be a real, and truly cool thing. (If it was ever put together properly) It would bring a whole new sphere to the game that didn't exist before. I've always felt that it would be a bit nicer to have a new meat-shield on the field.
Warriors, Paladins and Druids got all the attention until LK. Then DK's rolled on the scene but frost as the tank spec was just goofy. Now with Blood having taken to the forefront with Cata the game has changed. Making a 5th tanking spec out of (another) purely DPS spec might make people very, very happy. There's a lot of joy with Warlock Tanking right now, and the Dev's like making people happy.
