Mists of Pandaria Beta: Watch the Horde intro to Pandaria
What is most surprising is Garrosh's behavior at the beginning of the event, signaling the beginning of his lack of control. Supplies are running low, support is running thin, and each of the various nations of the Horde are having trouble paying their dues. Silvermoon, it seems, is in a precarious amount of debt. Garrosh's patience with his allies is wearing thin, and his brashness might be taking over a bit too suddenly.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Mists of Pandaria

Is the Alliance intro up? Or do we get to look forward to another abortion with Fargo?
roseclown Mar 29th 2012 1:16PM
I have seen it around, and it's pretty cool. It definitely shows Varian as the more level headed one (I mean, he is still hot-headed, but not a complete jerkface like mister shakes-goblins-for-no-good-reason up there). It's pretty cool, although there is less drama involved since Varian actually gets along with his allies.

it's funny, cause i jokingly thought to myself that we (alliance) would end up at SW harbor hopping on a plane to head to Pandaria, similar to our Twilight Highlands intro...
then i saw the video.

Those are about the least stealthy stealth planes ever.

All silvermoon needs to do is raise the tax on hair care product
Debt crisis solved
devilsei Mar 29th 2012 1:24PM
Aye, a 50-copper Scrunchie tax alone would help eliminate a majority of the deficit. Male and Female Bloodelves alike go through them like a Dwarf goes through the Pandaren Brewery's stock.

Totemdeath for PRESIDENT! You sir (or madam) are a financial genius. ;-p

I found it so jarring that even in serious, plot-defining exposition, Blizzard still had to resort to throwing in a ridiculous meme.
I like memes, they're funny, but there's a time and place, and it's just becoming so crass to have every single thing untouched by "lol pop culture reference".
Drakkenfyre Mar 29th 2012 2:52PM
You know, it's annoying when one of the unfunniest (IMO) memes is so overused.
I have never liked that one, it's stupid. It's almost 6 years old now, and every time when some little kid finds it, they think it's the funniest thing ever, and start using it, furthering it's length.
I am really disappointed that in the context of a serious intro, they just had to throw it in. Seriously, can we get a break from the pop-culture references just once? I love pop-culture references as much as the next guy, but it gets to the point where they are being used in an EXPANSION INTRODUCTION video that they are being overused.
And this is just text. Wait until it's voiced. Come on Blizzard, stop with the lame memes already.
Revanel Mar 29th 2012 3:59PM
It's seriously not that jarring. Yeah, they put in a pop culture reference, but it isn't disruptive at all as it makes perfect sense with or without the meme.
I really don't find it to be a big deal.
aidyTM Mar 29th 2012 4:01PM
I have the strangest feeling that won't make it live.
Drakkenfyre Mar 29th 2012 4:22PM
Revanel, it's not one reference. It's reference after reference after reference after reference.
Do you need to be reminded of Uldum? One entire giant reference to Indiana Jones. And while that sounds good on the surface, it wasn't done well, nor were what people were expecting with all the hype built around Uldum since vanilla (the entire Uldum quest chain left off on an unknown, "something escaped, I wonder what kind of weird shit's in there" feel.
There's a point where references go from references, to the game being a parody of the reference and itself. Someone might say "Game with funny references occasionally, good. Game made of references held together by previous lore, bad."
roseclown Mar 29th 2012 5:07PM
...Is it bad that I didn't even notice it? I mean, I have heard the meme before, but I just did not make that connection at all.
Eh. Whatever, probably helps me enjoy the scene more.
Adegan Mar 30th 2012 1:00AM
You know, I didn't pick up on that. It's entirely in context.
Revanel Apr 1st 2012 4:41PM
@Drakenfyre
I believe you misunderstood me. I didn't say there was nothing wrong with Blizzard's overuse of pop culture references.
I was only talking about this single instance.
roseclown Mar 29th 2012 1:17PM
Wow, so Garrosh is a supremely big jerk in this. Hasn't he ever heard of 'don't shoot the messenger'?

Well, this is going into my 'motivation to kick his butt off the throne' pile for sure.
vocenoctum Mar 29th 2012 1:39PM
Did we watch the same video?
The goblin said he'd been shipwrecked for days, so Garrosh gave him a big hug. Very comforting guy, he then threw him to the side of what I must assume is a healer, so he would not need to walk there.
Even the other nations, so far behind on payments, he gives them 2 months to figure out how to pay. Would a goblin extend you for 2 more months?
Garrosh is so nice to his people.
