I found it so jarring that even in serious, plot-defining exposition, Blizzard still had to resort to throwing in a ridiculous meme.
I like memes, they're funny, but there's a time and place, and it's just becoming so crass to have every single thing untouched by "lol pop culture reference".

You know, it's annoying when one of the unfunniest (IMO) memes is so overused.
I have never liked that one, it's stupid. It's almost 6 years old now, and every time when some little kid finds it, they think it's the funniest thing ever, and start using it, furthering it's length.
I am really disappointed that in the context of a serious intro, they just had to throw it in. Seriously, can we get a break from the pop-culture references just once? I love pop-culture references as much as the next guy, but it gets to the point where they are being used in an EXPANSION INTRODUCTION video that they are being overused.
And this is just text. Wait until it's voiced. Come on Blizzard, stop with the lame memes already.

It's seriously not that jarring. Yeah, they put in a pop culture reference, but it isn't disruptive at all as it makes perfect sense with or without the meme.
I really don't find it to be a big deal.

I have the strangest feeling that won't make it live.

Revanel, it's not one reference. It's reference after reference after reference after reference.
Do you need to be reminded of Uldum? One entire giant reference to Indiana Jones. And while that sounds good on the surface, it wasn't done well, nor were what people were expecting with all the hype built around Uldum since vanilla (the entire Uldum quest chain left off on an unknown, "something escaped, I wonder what kind of weird shit's in there" feel.
There's a point where references go from references, to the game being a parody of the reference and itself. Someone might say "Game with funny references occasionally, good. Game made of references held together by previous lore, bad."

...Is it bad that I didn't even notice it? I mean, I have heard the meme before, but I just did not make that connection at all.
Eh. Whatever, probably helps me enjoy the scene more.

You know, I didn't pick up on that. It's entirely in context.

I believe you misunderstood me. I didn't say there was nothing wrong with Blizzard's overuse of pop culture references.
I was only talking about this single instance.
