WoW Moviewatch: Mage v Lock
Thanks to Christian Belt of WoW Insider, The Daily Blink webcomic and the WoW forums from whom we drew some inspiration for this machinima. Please note that if you don't play a mage or a warlock you probably won't find this as entertaining as you would if you did.
This video might feel a little rough to some folks, but hold out until the end. It's all building up to a punch line. That punch line does kind of put our relationship with our raid frenemies in a humorous light, so it's all for a good cause. My hat's off to Swathe Productions for another fun video. I'm obviously a huge fan.

That mage throws a pretty good roundhouse.

Re: "It's all building up to a punch line."
I honestly would like to know what the punch line is supposed to be. I watched the entire thing. It dragged ... and then it ended.
I didn't get it. Please explain the punchline. Is it that they insult each other but then eagerly jump into raid together anyway?
If that's the punchline then, okay, I can see the humor. If that's not the punchline, please tell me what it is, because otherwise this will itch in my brain all evening. I hate when I don't get a joke.

At least you got that far, I couldn't make it half-way through. No punchline is worth the drivel.
Wrathkind Mar 29th 2012 7:25PM
@Wulfkin re: "No punchline is worth the drivel."
I guess the joke is that I got suckered into watching the whole thing! *[sad trombone] bwah wah wah wahhhh* From the comments below, I take it that the punchline really was the abrupt cut for raid time. That really wasn't worth the preceding three-and-a-quarter minutes (but humor is subjective so blahblahblah).

I found the insults more amusing than the "punch line."
I get the overall joke, but it could have been delivered much better.

I was expecting a Han and Leia style makeout session after calling each other nerf herders, but alas, nothing. That was just lame.

Kind of a weak ending. I think it'd be well suited to end with a "ba-doom tish" sound effect.
Admittedly, though, I can't wait for the opportunity to call someone a "cake-baking simpleton."

I was waiting for the little girl from Rush Hour to make a cameo. "Yeah, push the button!"

"Please note that if you don't play a mage or a warlock you probably won't find this as entertaining as you would if you did."
I hope that's not true, because I found that to be pretty dull. A couple of the lines aimed at the mage made me smile (for the record, I play a warlock, and despise those damned dirty mages) but most of it was just so-so. The "punch line" was pretty much non-existent.

If it wasn't for the "It's all building up to a punch line." setup I would not have made it all the way thru. Just kinda seemed to drag on.

That was godamn awful.
s.scott.staten Mar 29th 2012 7:43PM
Your capacity for understatement is amazing.
Imnick Mar 29th 2012 7:11PM
Barely any of the comments were even anything to do with the player's classes, you could have replaced these characters with any two other characters and not realised that it was meant to be part of the joke

Where's the goblin shaman trainer from Kezan when we need him?
Matthew Mar 29th 2012 7:59PM
Remind me - what was his angle?
KJP Mar 29th 2012 8:13PM
@Matthew You know how the mage and warlock trainers are constantly shooting at each other? Every so often the shaman trainer (Maxx Avalanche) gets fed up and launches a couple of lightning bolts at them.
aspectofthedork Mar 29th 2012 8:15PM
So... the mage was too busy pushing their one button to push the other one button on Ultraxion.
However, the warlock (who doesn't have any buttons worth pressing) was free to call it out for the group.

This is the worst video this site has ever posted.

No wonder you're having 3 stars in your post. It must be true.
Well, at least i saw a gnome getting kicked into oblivion. That was worth something ;-P
Dreyja Mar 29th 2012 8:24PM
I thought it was funny... maybe I'm easily amused. I'm always a sucker for back-an-forth insults and as a hunter it's even more enjoyable since to me they are just the same thing. ;-p *ducks*
Heh, I think the punchline was kinda cute since I'm from a guild with a couple of couples in it and they totally tear into each other worse than anyone else and then call each other "shnookems."
