Here is the way that I see it - Leather will work the way plate drops currently.
You will have leather with intellect on it for leather casters - boomkin, resto druid, mistweaver.

Then you'll have dps leather, for rogues, feral kitty-druids, and windwalker.

Then you'll have tanking leather, for bear tanks and brewmasters.
