World map quest markers are good news for Loremasters in Mists of Pandaria

It was a little easier to keep track of your progress in Cataclysm's largely linear zones, but Pandaria's zones offer you more freedom in what you're completing and when. To that end, the world map now shows you nearby quests on the world map. It isn't zone-wide, but it does work in a fairly large radius around you, so if you're flying or riding around and check your map periodically, you can see any unclaimed and available quests.
It's worth noting that Pandaria's Loremaster achievements are based on quest lines completed, not an actual number of quests, but this should definitely help you track down each story to add that tick to your achievement.
It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!Filed under: Mists of Pandaria

All this MoP talk makes me want my beta key! Damn you blizz for making such a hugely addictive game that still delivers after over 7 years of play time! Can't wait to try out this quest tracking feature, makes life much simpler.

:chuckle:
No, the really hardcore Loremasters don't use *any* addons. I did Loremaster before the original Kalimdor Loremaster nerf. I can tell you from experience you didn't need any addons.
Knob Mar 31st 2012 9:39PM
Wow, so hardcore! Make sure you spread your genes around!

Ol' Piper here just called us all out. I guess none of us should even try to play WoW, since Piper has won the game... even types when he/she chuckles at us, like a pro house painter laughs at the young nextdoor neighbor trying to paint his house with cheap paint sprayer they bought at Home Depot.

I did it without addons, too. I actually printed maps and went through lists in Thottbot finding all the questgivers, marking my maps up.
So, with that in mind, I'll go ahead and say the following about this change:
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I did it too and the Kalimdor grind was a menace...having to farm every single "this item begins a quest" item even off rare spawns just to get 730 quests.
I'm very happy for this change!

Oh YES. I'm a completionist, and I've been SORELY disappointed that the quest encyclopedia add ons have been falling behind with each cataclysm patch.
The only way Blizz could make this better is if gaining reputation with the lore faction in pandaria makes the 'quest radar' larger until it is full zone.
DO ALL THE QUESTS! :D

Didn't know this, it's a nice change, especially if it means they create quite a few grand questlines that span multiple quests instead of the old-school "kill 10 boars" quests. Although with Nesingwary's Camp back in Pandaria, the periodic extinction of Pandarian wildlife isn't too far away. :P

I wonder if and when this will apply to the rest of the world. In any case, it makes me happy =) Always hated trying to find quests - imagine if we could attach a waypoint addon to the marks on the map =D!
Evlyxx Mar 31st 2012 9:55PM
I like this it is another add-on I can eliminate
RGSmith Mar 31st 2012 11:15PM
How do I activate this? I'm in beta and my map isn't showing me quests. I want!!
RGSmith Mar 31st 2012 11:16PM
To clarify, I'm standing next to a quest giver that has a quest for me and yet nothing is showing up on the map.
Derleth Apr 1st 2012 12:52AM
I think it mostly just tags the start quest giver for a quest chain. the ones it showed me where little side quest hubs that you where never directed to while following the main quest chain.
Anne Stickney Apr 1st 2012 1:57AM
It doesn't show you questgivers on the map per se; it shows you areas of the main map where there are quests you haven't completed yet. So for instance, I had completed just about everything in my log (I thought), but when I checked my map, I saw a question mark waaaay down at the other end of the zone, indicating I hadn't explored that zone and there were quests I could complete over there.
So it doesn't pinpoint "HEY THERE IS A QUEST GIVER IN THIS PRECISE SPOT", it's more like "Hey, you missed this area, and there are quests here you didn't do!" Or at least that's what it seemed like to me. Very handy!
RGSmith Apr 1st 2012 10:43AM
Oh gotcha. I was in Silverpine which I haven't been to since the Cataclysm and was expecting the map to tell me where to go. To test it out I was siting in front of a quest giver with no luck.
That makes more sense.
Philster043 Apr 1st 2012 1:17AM
I'm not really sure this is for Loremasters.. it's to make it easier for everybody else.
robsmith77 Apr 1st 2012 4:52AM
Whilst this is a really good quality-of-life improvement, I actually enjoy hunting around each zone trying to find new quests. I like coming across things unexpectedly. Therefore I hope this is something that can be turned on/off through the option settings.

Curse.com has an add on right now called "quest hubber" which does this exact thing already. For those wanting a pre-mists exploration of this, feel free to check it out.
I sent it to add-on spotlight as while working on lore-master I got stuck in the netherstorm recently and this add-on saved my life but thought others might find it useful.
