Breakfast Topic: How do you feel about Mists of Pandaria spoilers?

What with Mists of Pandaria news and coverage of the beta all over the place, spoilers can be really, really hard to avoid. While I generally try to keep spoiler content out of Know Your Lore (and clearly label it as such if something might be a spoiler), I've still been just as busy posting beta news and information about zones, quests, features and more. Now thankfully, WoW Insider clearly labels all Mists of Pandaria info as such, so you can easily scroll right on by if you don't want to read anything ... but that doesn't mean that the temptation isn't there.
You know what I mean. Even if you've sworn to yourself you don't want to know, you won't look for anything, and that you want to go into Mists completely unspoiled, the temptation to look is there. Do you push the button and read the news, or do you firmly keep yourself spoiler-free? And what counts as a spoiler? Is news posted on the official WoW site, like the information from the press event, hands-off? Or does that count as fine to look at, but beta info is forbidden?
Do you care about spoilers? Do you avoid every bit of Mists info you can and try not to read anything at all? Are you tempted by the glut of information out there to indulge yourself as much as possible? Or do you just read everything that's available and shrug off spoilers as something you don't really worry about?

If you hate spoilers, you need to get off this site..

But then I'll have nothing to complain about!

The ones that make me laugh are the people who complain about spoilers on a prominent data mining website.

You need spoiler etiquette...

Spoilers in video games don't bother me much. I guess it's because they aren't really the best medium for story telling.
Now I'm not one of those snobs who insist that video games aren't art, (and anyone who does so insist simply needs to listen to any of the WoW soundtracks) but as a mode of story-telling, I can enjoy them as much if I know what's going to happen.

Single player games can be okay for storytelling but MMOs are probably never going to be great.

I can understand why its not a big deal to hear spoilers for a game. I mean, games are meant to be interactive, so its less about the story itself and more about the player's part in it. Hell, if the game is good, I'll keep playing it even if i already know what happens at the end.

I read WoW insider with blinkers on and if any article has something to do with MoP most of the time i wont read it. Won't be joining the beta either or else i'll feel like ive already seen everything before the release date which is a bit boring.

I usually don't mind learning about most things before I get to experience them in game. I have been good about not spoiling myself to see the horde/alliance intro to Mists and the what happens to Theramore. I am really tempted to check those videos out. I figure, if I see them in Beta- fine, but if I can avoid them, I will. Other than those two things, it's game out. Gimme the info. Gimme, gimme :p

I don't think the things have been revealed is all that big of a deal. Knowing Garrosh is the final boss of the expansion isn't any different then knowing Deathwing or Arthas was the final boss.
Knowing that Theramore is being destroyed in 5.0 is like finding out there is going to be a shattering in 4.0.

I'll confess- I'm of *those* people. You know, the ones who not only clicked the link to see the leaked epilogue of HP7, but then also peeked at the end as soon as I had it in my hands, just to see if the leak was real. ((Sadly, it was :( )) I will also read the last chapter of a book that's not catching my interest after the first chapter, to see if the end is compelling enough for me to stick with a lackluster beginning, just to see how they got to the end. So, spoilers don't really bother me unless the book or story is *really* important to me.

I'm not actively avoiding spoilers, but a lot of the nitty-gritty specifics are just not interesting to me at this time. I liked seeing the models and emotes for the new race, and I've got an interest in how my main's class will be redesigned, but that's about it. I don't much care to read about other classes I don't play, or hardly play - I'll learn about them when it's time to, after the game goes live. I haven't looked at what's been released for zones, dungeons, or raids (if there has been any), because similarly I'll explore it for real on my own.
I'm not trying to remain "spoiler" free, but there's lots I'll just wait until release to see.

I'm actually a big fan of spoilers. If I'm in to something enough to actually care about the characters, I want to know they'll be alright. Other than that...plots are predictable. All I care about in stories are the characters.
Dude Apr 1st 2012 8:56AM
Since there is no NDA I am not bothered since info will be splashed all over the web. Desensitized.
kvanje Apr 1st 2012 8:59AM
I'm avoiding most of the spoilers for the 85-90 content, and will only be checking out monks and pet battles in the beta. I only get one first journey through Pandaria, and I want it to be fresh and exciting.
Marbles Apr 1st 2012 9:04AM
Technical details, like Talent changes, Ability alterations, changes to mechanics, professions, things like that I'm not bothered about - they generally increase your ability to play.
But story lines and instance themes (where they break a story reveal), I'd prefer not to read about. I enjoy questing, and I like the storylines - but I prefer to experience them as the writers intended them to be experienced, not set out in a bulletpoint form that someone has knocked up for a website.
Basically, if it's information I could learn by reading the relevant set of patch notes, then I'm fine with it being "spoiled". Otherwise, would rather not.
So long as posts are sufficiently spoiler marked (such as the earlier Theramore video, which I did not look at), it's fine if people want to discuss it. I merely ask that the discussion be limited to those posts, so as to maintain the poster's spoiler warnings.

I adore spoilers. Spoil me, please! But only on the best parts, so that when I reach them in game I get that fist-pump moment.
