The Queue: April Lovefool's Day
Happy April Lovefool's Day, everyone.
Jeremy asked:
Has blizzard released information about how many people actually signed up for the World of Warcraft annual pass? If so, how many people signed up?
The official number last we heard was "over a million people." It's likely grown in the past few weeks, though, with the MoP beta beginning.
Ragecage asked:
With the introduction of mass/aoe looting in MoP, will there be an impact to sites who collect and then calculate the drop rates of certain items?
That's an excellent question.
I have no idea.
Pace9 asked:
Do we know if LFR will extend to old raids? If so, I'm remaking the Draenei Death Knight I had in Wrath and level capping him at 80 so I can run Uld,ToC, and ICC every once in a while =)
It's possible but unlikely that queueing for old raids will become available in Raid Finder. With old 5-mans, there's always the possibility someone is passing through that level range and can get XP from it; raids are a different beast entirely. People don't do those when they're leveling, and it's a crapshoot whether anyone on any given night would want to run AQ or ICC. Besides, do you really want to do C'thun with 39 (or even 24) random people?
Pace9 apparently also asked:
With the revamped talent system, is anything happening to dual specialization?
It works the same, fundamentally -- you choose a specialization, and you can switch to it any time out of combat. Talents and glyphs are remembered for each spec, but bear in mind too that talents are changeable like glyphs now.
Shiel asked:
So my husband just got his beta invite (lucky bastard) and tried grouping with some random people to make questing in the sea of pandas slightly easier. Oddly, they were only able to get a total of 4 people in the group before it said it was full. Anyone else have that problem? Didn't see anything on the official forums for it, and since *I* have not gotten my beta invite yet, I can't post about it either. Just curious if anyone else had that issue.
I had the issue as well when trying to hand assemble a group for Temple of the Jade Serpent. It's just a bug; parties are still five people in MoP, and queueing through the Dungeon Finder gives you a full group of five.
Swivelshanks asked:
I may be getting ahead of myself with all the cross-realm stuff, but when do you think we'll be able to transfer EU characters (and perhaps whole accounts) over to US servers? Please don't say never :P Looking for an estimate here, even if it's 2015 or something. Thanks!
Well, I won't say never, but I will say "probably never." It's really impossible to give you an "estimate" of when Blizzard will implement something it said it probably won't implement.
Fuzzl asked:
Is there any particular reason Blizzard got rid of the "feedback" system for Beta quests? And along those lines, is going to the forums the only way to report bugged quests or provide feedback right now? I wasn't in the Cataclysm Beta, so I'm not sure if it was there but I definitely remember a response system popping up in the Wrath Beta after quests were completed. It seemed like a nice system that was a lot easier than popping out of game to go to the forums with a formalized post about a specific quest.
I don't think there's been official word on whether that system has purposely been left out or whether it's coming soon. I think Blizzard might be a little concerned about signal-to-noise ratio in these reports, given that there'll be over a million people playing the beta in its lifespan. The number of people being given access to this beta dwarfs the population of any other WoW beta (possibly any Blizzard beta, period). Could be that Blizzard's decided to just use the forums as its main feedback mechanism -- after all, would you want to sort through milllions of feedback notes?

I really wish all those people using the Beta forums for feedback and bug reports would learn to use the simple and smart SEARCH function at the top to put reports together in fewer threads--instead of making a new one whenever they don't see their particular issue on the fast-moving front page. Every issue I've wanted to report, I've found multiple related threads and chosen what seems the best (most replies, a green poster, intelligent typing up of the issue, etc) to post my own experiences to as well.

that video was AWFUL, and it is NOT the Lovefool video that I grew up with!
This is the one I remember: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9zpnLBtwwg

Your relevance to the person you were replying to was AWFUL, and is NOT the way you should comment on posts.

I remember the beta forums for Cata. There was a span on a few days that it wouldn't allow you to post on there. (Right around the time I had issues with character transfers.) But at any rate, when the forums were working, they never bothered to search for topics then and there was A LOT less people in the Cata beta. Who says 100k+ people would be any better?
In the same topic, they really should limit what people can post on the forums. Instead they should bring back the feedback system. Someone, hopefully a team is monitoring what feedback is given. It would be a great tool to weed out the people that's just there to play the game before anyone else. If Blizzard notices you don't provide feedback, they revoke the beta key and let the rest of the million people in.
Their way, we'll get to see when the beta servers break. And I'll find it hilarious when people log into the beta server and they have to sit through a queue. Someone on the server is disconnected because of an actual bug, they try to log in again to recreate it and then they have to sit through a queue. The plan is genius!

I got my Force Reactive Disk from Molten Core the other night. How do I deal with getting one of the first items I fell in love with back when I started WoW in 2007?
Can't believe it took this long but wow, it looks awesome! I feel like a proper Gnomish Warrior Engineer!

You throw a party in the tram! Congratulations :)

Congrats, that'll be a great one for transmog. I don't think I've seen anybody rocking it.

'Could be that Blizzard's decided to just use the forums as its main feedback mechanism -- after all, would you want to sort through milllions of feedback notes?'
I'd rather search through the feedback notes than trawl the forums for information at the moment. The never ending deluge of 'Y no beeta blizz?' posts on the EU forums makes finding anything constructive a nightmare. I don't know if they've changed it, but the EU beta forums didn't even need a beta flagged account to post yesterday.
Daisyfizzi Apr 1st 2012 12:14PM
Just checked, you can still start threads and post in the bug report forum, whether you are flagged for beta or not : /
Snuzzle Apr 1st 2012 12:17PM
The beta bug reports? I could never post in any of the beta forums until my account got flagged for beta (us).
Daisyfizzi Apr 1st 2012 12:28PM
The EU forums will let anyone post. They should've done the same as the US forums and restricted it.
Cephas Apr 1st 2012 12:54PM
Actually their preferred solution would have been to let all beta testers use the same forum like they did for past betas, but apparently the new forums system can't do mixed region forums like the old one could, and the EU forums can't tell if you have a beta account or not because beta accounts are technically considered US accounts. It's unfortunate, but this is apparently the best solution they could come up with.

Man, I hope the Blizzard guys aren't so overworked that they can't do an April Fool's patch again...
If you're a YGO: Abridged fan, LittleKuriboh has sold his rights off to Michael Bay. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic zombie games, SEGA has "Bass Fishing of the Dead"! (for the Wii-U and 3DS, natch)
That's all I've found in the last half hour. Anyone else find some good ones?

Every time I log into a character, I hear a random snippet of boss dialog; so far I've had Algalon, Kil'Jadeen, Rhyolith and XT-002. Apparently it's from DBM, which means Blizz would have been out-April-Fooled by an addon.
Reklisc Apr 1st 2012 12:34PM
LMBO!
Hey, me, here's a thought - How about checking Blizzard's main page or facebook page!
They have 2 new things up, only one of which is the clear joke. Guess which one!

There's a couple of parody minigames on the Starcraft site, and Bioware's Space WoW: Same Game, Worse Engine site has a preview of some new gameplay for the Ship Droids.

It's pretty off-topic, but the best April Fools gag I've come across this year has actually been the Single Player Commands mod on Minecraft. Logged in and a message popped up from the mod that said "Try out our newest command, /roll." I typed it in thinking something to the effect of rolling forward would happen, or maybe even the staff roll for the mod would pop up.
I was wrong. "Never Gonna Give You Up" started playing through Minecraft. And I laughed. Hard. Literally for a minute solid. Best laugh I've had in ages.

@ Andrew: I thought I was becoming psychotic. Thank you for clearing this up.

Crabby is back on the world of warcraft page and if you click on him he will put on different hats.

@Andrew It's not just when you log in either. I heard Medivh in the middle of questing.
