I play on a PvP realm. I've PvP'd quite bit in BGs in my time, never Arena (hate Arena). I'm, at best, one of those who gets middling numbers and occasionally winds up in the upper third of the chart. That said: I hate PvP these days, or rather, I hate PvP as its implemented in WoW. I've played, and greatly enjoyed, Team Fortress 2, where classes are balanced out and unique, but still require teamwork to function properly, and it's done so much better there.I've played Unreal Tournament back in the day, where you could solo all day long, if need be, and it's balanced out so much better that it's ... unreal (sorry). Ditto for Doom, Halo and all the rest.WoW PvP is just broken. It was broken from the moment they tacked it on to a PvE game and it will always be broken. It's brokenness is inherent in the design and I seriously doubt any amount of patching or balancing will ever fix it so that it's not only fun, but balanced well. Something about the design of those other games lends itself to superior team play and while I have no doubt Blizzard tries very hard, they just don't get PvP in a spiritual way that translates out to a good technical implementation. While I don't want Blizzard to remove PvP from the game (that's just not possible at this point), I wish they would quit emphasizing it and I really wish the players would recognize the PvP system for what it is: just broke as hell. Play it for what it is, not for what you want it to be.
