This kind of stuff can lead to clues about how the game works on a technical level. For example, how Ghostlands and outlands are on the second map while most of Azeroth is on map ID 1.
Ever get outside of map in the underworld section of Cataclysm? Awesome. You can see where they were testing textures and carving out ideas.
